My days roar with silence (I’ve gotta start playing some music during the day.\u00a0 In fact, more 80’s music oughta\u00a0do the trick.\u00a0 80’s songs will always cure what ails ya!\u00a0 Plus they make you 16 again with awesome hair and cute clothes.); So much silence in fact that I’ve begun to consider the\u00a0chats I have with the kids during the car ride home from school to be\u00a0the highlight of the day.\u00a0 These little humans\u00a0are truly scintillating conversationalists!<\/p>\n
To prove the point, I present to you The Conversation From The Car Ride Home Today:<\/p>\n
SON:\u00a0(pointing to the ripped dude riding his bike without a shirt on.\u00a0 Hey!\u00a0 It’s Colorado!!\u00a0 There’s lots of topless bike riding going on.\u00a0 Not by me, to be clear.\u00a0\u00a0But it’s hot and sunny – kills two birds with one stone – so I can totally understand the thought process.)\u00a0 “Wow!\u00a0 Look at that guy’s six pack!”<\/p>\n
ME:\u00a0 “Six pack?\u00a0\u00a0Did you just say six pack?\u00a0 How do you know what a six pack is?\u00a0 What is<\/em> a six pack??”<\/p>\n SON: “It’s those bumps that you get on your stomach.”<\/p>\n ME: [in my head] Hey!\u00a0 I’ve got bumps on my stomach.\u00a0 Maybe\u00a0I also have a six\u00a0pack\u00a0and didn’t know it.<\/p>\n DAUGHTER:\u00a0 “Daddy doesn’t have a six pack.\u00a0 He just has a belly…that’s kindof round.”<\/p>\n ME: [in my head] And so does Mommy, so we’re even.\u00a0 Evenly matched.\u00a0 A match made in Heaven!\u00a0 Wuv, twew wuv.<\/p>\n SON: “The hulk also has a six pack…but his is more like a thirteen pack.”<\/p>\n DAUGHTER: “No, he wouldn’t have a thirteen pack because that wouldn’t be even.\u00a0 That would look weird.\u00a0 It’s probably either a twelve pack or just a really big\u00a0six pack.”<\/p>\n ME: [in my head] Excellent point, Daughter.\u00a0 I wonder if the Hulk’s wife (Mrs. Hulk?) also has a twelve pack?\u00a0 But how would we know\u00a0because she probably wears a blouse and skirt instead of those weird\u00a0pants that are all shredded at the bottom.\u00a0\u00a0Gween\u00a0wuv twew wuv!<\/p>\n At which point the conversation droned on and on about other superheros with various packs vs. actual humans with no packs and I was forced to turn on the radio.\u00a0\u00a0 As luck would have it, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun was on.<\/p>\n ME: [in my head] Why yes, yes we\u00a0do!\u00a0 And doesn’t\u00a0my hair look great?
