In addition to being an expensive nap (Hey!\u00a0 I already explained that no one ever lets me sleep in<\/a> so what do you expect when I’m stuck in a\u00a0dark, relatively quiet room for an hour-and-a-half?!?) – the newly released Escape\u00a0From Planet Earth brings the Working Woman vs. Stay\u00a0At Home Mom debate to a whole ‘nother level.\u00a0 It goes\u00a0intergalactic!<\/p>\n

In brief:\u00a0 Kira was the head\u00a0of the space\u00a0program on Planet Baab until she decided to be a stay at home mother.\u00a0 Now, she is\u00a0pitted against the NEW head of the space program, Lena, who is out for world domination while at the same time being\u00a0embittered that she doesn’t have a\u00a0family like Kira, but instead has a highly successful career and a bizarre love interest on Planet Earth who wears an Elvis wig (I can NOT for the life of me draw any parallels with the Elvis wig, so I’ll leave it alone).<\/p>\n

Oh.\u00a0 You’ll see “other” plot summaries of the\u00a0movie out there.\u00a0 Blah, blah, blah.\u00a0 For example, some sources claim the movie is about a\u00a0science-y, blue space alien brother (Gary, who is Kira’s husband) who goes to save his\u00a0brave blue space alien brother (Scorch) who’s been duped by Lena into bringing an explosive device to planet earth.\u00a0 In the process Scorch gets captured by\u00a0US government official, William Shanker (spoiler alert – he’s the bald dude who wears an Elvis wig while woo-ing Lena during their FaceTime dating sessions).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0But only conspiracy theorists\u00a0float those versions of the movie.\u00a0 So don’t be fooled!\u00a0\u00a0The movie is\u00a0really about Working Women and\u00a0Stay at Home Moms and their age-old debate about who has the better gig.<\/p>\n

To which I say – Ladies: You\u00a0both have\u00a0a really great thing going on.\u00a0\u00a0Just appreciate it.\u00a0 Just\u00a0enjoy it.\u00a0 You’ve both made enormous sacrifices to get where you are.\u00a0 You don’t make your side of the argument more stunningly effective by belittling the\u00a0other side of the argument.\u00a0 (And you NEVER\u00a0make your case by\u00a0planning full world domination.\u00a0\u00a0And no one.\u00a0 I mean NO ONE should have a love interest who wears a bad Elvis wig.\u00a0 You’re ALL worth more than that.\u00a0 And really, this should be\u00a0where our greatest powers are revealed;\u00a0Through\u00a0GUIDING\u00a0the weaker sex in their\u00a0fashion sense.\u00a0 Bad “rugs” are never in.)<\/p>\n

Speaking from experience,\u00a0no matter what side of the fence\u00a0you’re on, the grass – in fact – is NOT always greener.\u00a0 And it’s NEVER\u00a0blue-er.\u00a0 So stop thinking it is.\u00a0 And really, if we can’t get this issue settled soon, I’m gonna wanna Escape from Planet Earth too!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
