Wooo hooo!\u00a0 Long week-end!!\u00a0 Kids only had a half-day of school so I\u00a0didn’t need to come up with any<\/em> faux errands to occupy my time.\u00a0 I can save those for next week.<\/p>\n

Jogging, talking to the neighbors, getting ready for kid pick-up and picking up\u00a0 – that’s about all I had time for this a.m.<\/p>\n

But this p.m. I started to think about this long week-end stretching out before me.\u00a0\u00a0With this stay at home mom thing there’s lots and lots of time to think.\u00a0 And to hear that roaring ocean-in-a-seashell sound.\u00a0 Which I now think is\u00a0actually\u00a0coming from inside my head.<\/p>\n

Labor Day Week-end.\u00a0 This long week-end is in honor of those who labor.\u00a0 Which isn’t me.\u00a0 Anymore.<\/p>\n

Did I build up enough labor “points” when I was laboring that they\u00a0now somehow carry over to those years when I don’t\u00a0labor?\u00a0 Or is someone at the\u00a0local pool on Monday gonna be able to tell just by looking at me that I’m a Labor Day fraud?!<\/p>\n

Speaking of pools…did you\u00a0ever have that friend growing up who had that pool?\u00a0 Remember how\u00a0her older brothers spoke so convincingly of the chemicals they added to the pool that would cause a red dot to appear and\u00a0follow you around in the pool if you pee’d in it?\u00a0 From ages\u00a08 to 10\u00a0–\u00a0while swimming –\u00a0I would suddenly whip around to see if I could catch a glimpse of that red dot.\u00a0 Never did see it.\u00a0 But I guess now I’ve given myself away.<\/p>\n

Yeah – I pee’d in the pool.\u00a0\u00a0I totally admit it.\u00a0\u00a0And when it was my turn to be the older kid, I spent a good portion of my pool time convincing little kids that there was a red dot that would follow you around…<\/p>\n

And as a side note, if you wanna spark some interesting conversation sometime,\u00a0take a poll of your half-drunk friends as to whether or not THEY pee in the pool.\u00a0\u00a0Or the shower.\u00a0 You’d be surprised.\u00a0\u00a0But be warned, the topic is very polarizing.<\/p>\n

All of this makes me wonder\u00a0if there might be chemicals in the air that mix with the eau-de-guilt wafting off of me (while I’m celebrating\u00a0Labor Day when I really shouldn’t be) which will eventually form\u00a0some sort of karmic red dot which floats around\u00a0behind me for all to see?\u00a0 Labor Day celebration??\u00a0 I’m not “entitled” to it, so I shouldn’t be there, doing that.<\/p>\n

So if you see me in the pool on Labor Day and I’m being followed by a red dot…and another red dot…you’ll know why.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
