Well hello and where ya been?! No matter. No one\u2019s interested in your excuses anyhow. <\/em> The important thing is that you\u2019ve made it back just in time for an enjoyable seasonal anecdote.<\/p>\n

But first, let me explain that when my parents come for a visit from Virginia, we usually play lots of board games. During one of their more\u00a0recent visits, we played Like-Wise which is a board game where you have to answer category questions while trying to match other people\u2019s answers and thus gain points.<\/p>\n

My mom answered two-and-quite-possibly-three\u00a0of six category questions with \u201cDolly Parton.\u201d I have never heard my mother before (or since) make mention of Dolly Parton. I didn\u2019t even know she knew who Dolly Parton was. No one matched her Dolly Parton answers so she didn’t get any points. <\/em>But my kids came away from that game with the distinct impression that Grandma is a huge Dolly Parton fan.<\/p>\n

So imagine their joy and surprise when we got in the car yesterday after the first mass of Advent to find that the carol playing on the radio was by Grandma\u2019s fave – Dolly Parton!<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll give you one guess as to what Dolly was singing. That\u2019s right!\u00a0 Her all time, best-selling holiday song, \u201cHard Candy Christ.\u201d I even got a picture of it on the dashboard display.<\/p>\n

Grandma\u2019s religious too, so any reference to Christ is right up her alley.<\/em><\/p>\n

Sissy\u2019s take on the whole thing? \u201cOh my GOSH! Grandma would LOVE this song!\u201d<\/p>\n

And really, who doesn\u2019t love hearing a bosom-y gal sing about\u00a0Jesus as a red and white striped, peppermint flavored baby sitting in a feed trough.\u00a0Feeling hungry? Break off an arm of the Beloved Savior and enjoy! Num, num, num.<\/p>\n
