The Stock Show is in town! I don\u2019t know what it\u2019s all about exactly, not bein\u2019 from these here parts, but it\u2019s a hot field trip ticket for the 2nd<\/sup> grade and under set in the Denver, Colorado area.\u00a0 Back East, we take field trips to places like Philadelphia or to see a Broadway Play in New York City. Stock Show?\u00a0 Makes me feel like my kids are deprived.<\/em><\/p>\n

We were talking about it at dinner tonight, and Sonny \u2013 whose favorite field trip WAS the Stock Show \u2013 chimed in with, \u201cYeah, it was the best! At the end, you could even buy a chicken for $20!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Oh boy, can you just imagine what Colorado mothers do when their kids show up from the Stock Show field trip with a chicken in tow?! <\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBut I didn\u2019t have any money with me so I couldn\u2019t get it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phew.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBut that\u2019s nothing; Bestie was going to get a PEACOCK!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Good lord. <\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cBut he didn\u2019t have any money either and then he fell asleep on my lap on the bus home.\u201d<\/p>\n

And there you have it. The best field trip of all time.\u00a0 And also the reason you should\u00a0never, EVER, send money with\u00a0kids on a field trip.\u00a0 Can you imagine what that bus trip home would’ve looked like with Sonny trying to tend a chicken AND a peacock while Bestie snoozed away?!?<\/em><\/p>\n

The question naturally came around the table to Hubby, who\u2019s a born and bred Coloradoan. His favorite field trip when he was in grade school??<\/p>\n

Yep, you guessed it. The Stock Show.<\/p>\n

Gosh. The Stock Show is starting to sound like a lot of fun.\u00a0 I should git\u2019 me there real soon.\u00a0 I just won\u2019t bring $20.\u00a0 Or even $50.\u00a0 Don\u2019t want to be tempted or anything.\u00a0 Also?\u00a0 The nap at the end sounds very promising.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
