This is the “Preparing for St. Nicholas’ Visit” play that’s\u00a0going on in my\u00a0kitchen right now….<\/p>\n
(FYI – for those who don’t know,\u00a0St. Nicholas Day Eve is like the\u00a0poor man’s version of Santa Claus wherein you leave out your shoe the night of December 5th and\u00a0St. Nicholas comes and fills it with candy & treats.)<\/p>\n
Sonny – Guys!\u00a0 It’s time to put out our shoes!!<\/p>\n
Husband – (from the bowels of the house somewhere) No!\u00a0 That’s not our tradition.\u00a0 St. Nicholas isn’t gonna\u00a0come and put candy in your shoes.<\/p>\n
Sonny – I’m gonna give it a try and I’m gonna use Daddy’s shoe.<\/p>\n
Sissy – Wait!\u00a0 I’m gonna use Daddy’s shoe too.<\/p>\n
Sonny – No, I already called Daddy’s shoe.\u00a0 You can use Mommy’s shoe.<\/p>\n
Sissy – No!\u00a0 It’s big, but not as big as Daddy’s.\u00a0 That’s not fair if you get more candy in your shoe than I get in mine.<\/p>\n

Wife (me!) – ok, well it’s worth a try I suppose.\u00a0 But don’t say you weren’t\u00a0warned.\u00a0 And you’ll use your own shoes.<\/p>\n
