I came home from a tennis match the other eve to find this loverly display out front of the house.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s Sissy\u2019s old potty. We had to get it replaced with a new one because the one you see here just decided to stop working when summer break came to a close and Sissy gasp!<\/em> started highschool! Gasp!<\/em><\/p>\n

Did you catch that part about Sissy gasp!<\/em> starting HIGHSCHOOL?!? Gasp!<\/em><\/p>\n

Which is completely, completely weird and not even possible because she just started kindergarten like\u2026last year.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, the potty went kablooey\u00a0and freshman year was finally upon us. Hubby and I both took Sissy to the first day of highschool – Hubby driving, me sitting in the front passenger seat crying into my sunglasses while Sissy sat in the back asking her father if I was crying into my sunglasses.<\/p>\n

Whereupon\u00a0Hubby would give me the side eye, then swivel his eyes front again and say, \u201cNope.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cReally? Are you SURE she\u2019s not crying?!?\u00a0 Is Mom CRYING??\u201d<\/p>\n

Side eye. Swivel front.\u00a0 \u201cNope.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not sure what he was trying to do there other than protect my dignity and save Sissy some embarrassment because she hates it when I cry. But eventually she caught me sneaking another tissue and responded with, \u201cShe IS crying!\u00a0 You ARE crying, Mom.\u00a0 I KNEW it!!\u00a0 Why did you lie to me!!!?\u201d<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t involve me in this. I didn\u2019t lie to you at all.<\/em><\/p>\n

At which point the ride was almost over and I still hadn\u2019t given my inspiring advice to her about\u00a0how to\u00a0have a successful highschool career.\u00a0 So despite the tears, I launch into my, \u201cJust be as kind and lovely as you always are.\u00a0 Draw kind and lovely people to you.\u00a0 You\u2019re going to have so much fun, Sweetheart.\u00a0 Work hard.\u00a0 And don\u2019t ever let anyone sit alone in the lunchroom on your watch.\u201d\u00a0 This last part trailed off into a\u00a0high-pitched squeak and then weird laryngitis-like silence even though my mouth was still moving.\u00a0 See?\u00a0Very inspiring.<\/em><\/p>\n

Then we were at school. Sissy’s bestie\u00a0was standing out front waiting for her.\u00a0 I jumped out of the car with Sissy, took completely non-embarrassing pictures of her and Bestie, hugged them both (again, completely non-embarrassingly) and they were off!\u00a0 First day of gasp! <\/em>highschool. Gasp!<\/em><\/p>\n

I cried the whole way home and eventually gave myself a full-blown migraine with visual aura which I at first mistook for a detached retina due to\u00a0excessive crying.<\/p>\n

Well, that was fun. And we got a new potty out of it.<\/em><\/p>\n

So now I pose to you a question:
\nPotty oh-vah?! Or potty just gettin\u2019 stah-ted??!\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whoop, whoop!<\/p>\n
