A\u00a0tennis friend and I were recently talking before a tennis match about a second tennis friend who had slipped and hurt her knee and therefore was out for the rest of the season.<\/p>\n
The version of the story I heard was that Tennis Friend #2 had slipped on some wet tile. Naturally I assumed she had been in the shower when the slip occurred, so when Tennis Friend #1 and I were catching up on that news, the conversation turned \u2013 as conversations about slippery tennis friends prior to tennis matches do \u2013 into a regular funniest-shower-slipping-stories-we\u2019ve-ever-heard\u00a0laugh riot.<\/p>\n
Her story involved her sister and some screaming and thumping noises. By the time she got into the bathroom to see what had happened, her sister had a broken toe or tooth (I forget which) and she was all tangled up in the shower curtain, the rod of which she had completely ripped out of the wall.<\/p>\n
That primed the pump a bit and we were laughing like loons by the time I trotted out my story involving my freshmen roommate. I was IN the shower with her at the time her slip happened so I bore witness to the whole shebang.<\/p>\n
Hey! Hey, CREEP!\u00a0 Creepy, creeper.\u00a0 Eyes up here, \u2018cause it wasn\u2019t like THAT.\u00a0 So before you go THERE with THAT, I\u2019ll tell you that the showers in my freshman dorm consisted of like a 6 foot by 10 foot tiled room with four shower heads \u2013 two on each side of the wall.\u00a0 That\u2019s it.\u00a0 No partitions.\u00a0 No curtains.\u00a0 Nuthin\u2019 except a few inch lip which separated the showers from the rest of the bathroom.\u00a0 I don\u2019t think there was even a place to put your soap and shampoo since I remember a lot of crouching to grab stuff off the floor.\u00a0 I also remember a lot of stretching and bending because there wasn\u2019t any place to put your legs when you were shaving, except up on the wall.\u00a0 Unless you chose to bend over to shave instead (with your backside strategically placed in the corner).\u00a0 Gaah!\u00a0 Talk about a total lack of privacy.\u00a0 And in retrospect, there\u00a0may even have been\u00a0SIX shower heads – THREE on each side.\u00a0\u00a0Grrrph.\u00a0 That\u2019s even worse.\u00a0 Completely awful.\u00a0 <\/em>[Shudder.]\u00a0 But six shower heads seems right because there was a lot of\u00a0having to walk past what seemed\u00a0like rows of naked women so that you\u00a0could get to the shower head in the corner which had recently been vacated \u2013 <\/em>excuse me, oops, sorry \u2013 because it\u2019s not like you could ask everyone to \u201cmove down one\u201d so that you could be closest to the escape hatch\u2026er\u2026lip.\u00a0 Ugh, blaaaaach!!!<\/em><\/p>\n Ok, here we go.<\/p>\n But first, may I remind you that slipping in the shower is no laughing matter\u2026<\/p>\n My roommate and I were in the shower. She finished before me and was carefully stepping over the lip of the shower when allofasudden she was lying sideways with her legs inside the shower and her upper torso bent up and over the lip\u00a0outside the shower.\u00a0 It was the funniest HowDoYouDo I\u2019d ever seen.\u00a0 And?\u00a0 She was MAD.\u00a0 Really, really pissed off.\u00a0 So despite her, \u201cYeah, I\u2019m sure that looked funny.\u00a0 Go ahead and laugh.\u201d\u00a0 I got the sense she didn\u2019t really want me to laugh.\u00a0 So I stifled my giggles and tried to help her up.\u00a0 But remember she\u2019s naked and slippery. \u00a0And I\u2019M naked and slippery.\u00a0 It’s a lot\u00a0like helping someone stand up who fell while ice skating:\u00a0I’m\u00a0worried she may drag me\u00a0down with her.\u00a0 Further, I don\u2019t want to accidentally touch\u2026anything…so I\u2019m mostly just using my words to encourage her to get up.<\/p>\n Eventually she exits stage left even; limping and carrying her toiletries bucket while I spend the next ten minutes huddled\u00a0under a stream of water, shoulders shaking trying to control the belly laughs that keep coming. This is no one\u2019s cutest look.<\/em><\/p>\n Turns out frosh roomie had to go to the infirmary because she really bunged up her leg. There were crutches and everything.\u00a0 To preserve everyone\u2019s dignity we both told the rest of the girls on the hall that she got hit by a car in the crosswalk.<\/p>\n Now, carry on with your week-end. Try; try with all your might to get the visual of college girls in the shower out of your head.<\/p>\n By the way, it turns out Tennis Friend #2 didn\u2019t even slip in the shower.\u00a0 When\u00a0Tennis Friend #1 and I were able to get\u00a0ourselves under control\u00a0from our hardy, har, har fest,\u00a0we sought clarification from our team captain.\u00a0 Tennis Friend #2’s\u00a0knee injury had NOTHING\u00a0to do with the shower.<\/p>\n So I\u2019m not even sure why you brought the whole shower thing up.\u00a0 Also?\u00a0 Slipping in the shower is no laughing matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" A\u00a0tennis friend and I were recently talking before a tennis match about a second tennis friend who had slipped and hurt her knee and therefore was out for the rest of the season.
