I found them.\u00a0 They\u2019re on my roof.\u00a0 All night.\u00a0 Every night.\u00a0 Hoot, hoot, hooting to eachother.\u00a0 All spring.\u00a0 And did I mention that part about all night?\u00a0 Oh, yeah, I did, didn\u2019t I?\u00a0 But what about that part about all spring?! That too??<\/p>\n<p>Seems like every spring in recent memory starts the same way. Twilight descends and I catch a glimpse of Mothman Prophesies flapping through my backyard.\u00a0 It also scares the crap outta the dog who\u2019s out for his last peep-peep, poop-poop before bed, so he has to spend the rest of his outdoors time hiding under the trampoline and barking in the direction of\u00a0the pinetree.<\/p>\n<p>And then it begins from our roof. <em>Hoot, hoot, hoot!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Followed by another <em>Hoot, hoohoot, hoot<\/em> from one house over.<\/p>\n<p><em>Really? Sonny\u2019s been to cotillion and he knows how to make polite introductions.\u00a0 Could I just send him out, have you two owly-y types meet and then you can huddle up on the same roof and quiet down already?!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>1 a.m. <em>Hoot, hoot, hoot!<\/em> Sometimes I mistake it for my children calling to me in the night, so I get up.<\/p>\n<p>2:45 a.m. <em>Hoot, hoohoot, hoot!<\/em> Sometimes I think it\u2019s the dog whimpering loudly to go out, so then I get up.<\/p>\n<p>5:30 a.m. <em>Hoot, hoot, hoot! <\/em> Sometimes I think it\u2019s just mean people in the street pretending to be owls way too early in the morning.\u00a0 But now it\u2019s time to get up, so then I get up.<\/p>\n<p>Whereupon Hubby rolls over and mumbles, \u201cGuh. Did you hear the owls all night?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Oh?! Owls?\u00a0\u00a0Were those owls??\u00a0 Yep, I noticed that a little bit.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But because I\u2019m groggy and tired, yet intrepid and clever-\u2018til-the-end (not to mention a WINNER at this \u201c80\u2019s Song for Every Moment in Life\u201d game we play), I will now close my owl blog with some lyrics from a song titled \u201cWhere Do The Children Go\u201d from the 1985 album called <em>Nervous Night<\/em> by\u2026wait for it\u2026the HOOTERS!<\/p>\n<p><em>So frickin\u2019 clever, right? It\u2019s a gift really.\u00a0 Or maybe it\u2019s a curse.\u00a0 Either way, bug off so I can go take a nap.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Surrender into the night, Silently take my hand. Nobody knows what&#8217;s inside us, Nobody understands.<br \/>\nThey handed us down a dream, To live in this lonely town. But nobody hears the music, Only the echo of a hollow sound\u2026<br \/>\nWhere do the children go? [Substitute \u2018owls\u2019 here for children, it\u2019s funnier.] Between the bright night and the darkest day?<br \/>\nWhere do the owls go?
