{"id":4430,"date":"2016-05-08T09:07:07","date_gmt":"2016-05-08T15:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=4430"},"modified":"2016-05-08T09:07:07","modified_gmt":"2016-05-08T15:07:07","slug":"happy-mothers-day-ma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=4430","title":{"rendered":"Happy Mother&#8217;s Day, Ma!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When we were growing up, my mother would call us by a variety of names &#8211; each other\u2019s mostly, but sometimes her own brother and sister\u2019s names, though I was never lucky enough to be on the receiving end of that.\u00a0 That honor mostly went to my younger brother and sister. \u00a0Being the middle child, more often than not, I got called the dog\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p>And on my end, I would pilot my\u00a0own names for Mom \u2013 mostly all were from literary works since we were a reading-ist kind of family.<\/p>\n<p>Fresh off <em>The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew<\/em> series, Mom became Mamsie Dear.<\/p>\n<p>As I\u00a0lived the excitement of the Civil War years right along with the March Sisters in \u201cLittle Women\u201d Mom became Marmie.<\/p>\n<p>And after plowing through all the <em>Little House on the Prairie<\/em> books, there was even that failed attempt to start up a whole \u201cMa\u201d thing.<\/p>\n<p>But nuthin doin\u2019 on that. I think she mistook what I had intended as a\u00a0plucky, pioneer \u201cMa\u201d for more of a Vinny Barbarino, wise-cracking New York \u201cMa\u201d so she nixed that right outta the gate.<\/p>\n<p>Where I\u2019m really going with all of this is:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Hi Mom! <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Thank you for being the best Mamsie Dear\/Marmie\/Ma ever.
