It\u2019s Sonny\u2019s birthday today and we got him a remote controlled helicopter thingie with a built-in camera*.\u00a0 (Yes, it’s a “helicopter thingie” because if we\u00a0called it a drone, we’d have to register it with the FDA…or is it the\u00a0NRA?!)<\/p>\n

Anyway, what\u2019s a freshly minted twelve-year-old boy gonna do with something like that?! Lots of things, for sure, but his initial thought was, \u201cWow!\u00a0 I can use this to spy on all the girls!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Yes, Sweetie, that\u2019s exactly why we got it for you. Girls do a lot of stuff that requires\u00a0spying on, and we\u2019re putting you in charge of that.<\/em><\/p>\n

He promptly took the helicopter thingie\u00a0outside, flew it for 3 seconds and got it stuck in the tree.\u00a0 My response?\u00a0 \u201cHow do the girls look from up there!?!\u00a0 They doin\u2019 anything we should know about??\u201d<\/p>\n

Apart from the early morning birthday hi-jinks, I wanted to share with you this poem Sonny wrote about Happiness.<\/p>\n

Happiness<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Happiness looks like a rainbow floating on clouds.<\/span><\/p>\n

It sounds like an ice cream truck<\/span><\/p>\n

and tastes like fairy cupcakes with sprinkles and whipped cream.<\/span><\/p>\n

Happiness smells like freshly baked bread.<\/span><\/p>\n

It looks like a birthday party with a pi\u00f1ata.<\/span><\/p>\n

Happiness makes me feel like I have no homework.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a little heavy on the food analogies, but you get the gist.<\/p>\n

And speaking of happiness, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank my son\u00a0for bringing so much happiness into our lives.\u00a0\u00a0Since the day you were born, Darling Boy, I\u2019ve felt like I had no homework.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been a little hungrier than usual for some reason\u2026but back to that no homework feeling.\u00a0 Thank you for all that you are.\u00a0 And we hope that you get the helicopter out of the tree soon.\u00a0 We gotta know what\u2019s going on with all the girls.<\/p>\n
