Hubby and I had a recent conversation wherein he was talking about purchasing a shade canopy to use during Sissy\u2019s softball tournaments, but I could NOT figure out what he was even saying.\u00a0 Based on the few words I did catch, I thought he was talking about purchasing shelters shelters? Picnic shelters??<\/em> either FROM\u00a0a neighborhood boyscout (bad plan) or FOR a neighborhood boyscout (why would we DO that?!).<\/p>\n

Anyway, Hubby eventually figured out I couldn\u2019t hear him and so he ultimately made his master canopy plan known.\u00a0 There may have\u00a0even been some\u00a0pantomime.<\/p>\n

The whole thing reminded me of the very earliest days of our marriage when I just stopped being able to hear him.<\/p>\n

Back when we were fresh-faced newlyweds (23 years ago today in fact \u2013 Happy Anniversary, My Twew Wuv) allofasudden the words coming out of his mouth stopped making sense.\u00a0 I mean, I could see his lips move and know sentences were being formed, but he would have to repeat himself several times and even resort to some cut-rate mime stuff before I could make out what he was saying.<\/p>\n

I never did figure out what THAT was about.\u00a0 Maybe some psychosomatic backlash?\u00a0 Like, now that I had him locked to my side for all eternity, having just vowed all that richer-poorer-sickness-health jazz, I could now simply\u00a0stop listening to him.\u00a0 No matter what I did \u2013 up to and including no longer being able to hear him \u2013 he was still mine.\u00a0 MINE I SAY!!\u00a0 MWA ha ha!!! [evil laugh]<\/p>\n

But that wackiness stopped shortly after we got back from our honeymoon.\u00a0 And I\u2019ve been able to hear him just fine ever since.\u00a0 Well\u2026more or less\u2026<\/p>\n

By the way, Sweetie, I\u2019m not on board with the boyscout picnic shelter idea.\u00a0 That\u00a0seems like a dumb plan.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n

For his part, he\u2019s always been able to hear ME just fine.\u00a0 So he\u2019ll hear me when I say:<\/p>\n

Happy Anniversary.\u00a0 I love you and thank you for twenty-three great years!<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not 100% sure, but I think he says he loves me too.\u00a0 Either that\u2026or he\u2019s really serious about the boyscout picnic shelter and is moving forward with it.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
