I have a brother.\u00a0 I have a son.\u00a0 I know me a little sum\u2019in sum\u2019in about Voltron, Defender of the Universe.\u00a0 He was a big robot-y guy who was made up of five smaller dog robots.\u00a0 Sounds bizarre on paper, but is true enough in cartoon-land.<\/p>\n
And when my big Mother\u2019s Day outing to go see a movie came up today, I was on board.\u00a0 Totally on board.\u00a0 We\u2019re seeing the new Voltron movie?\u00a0 The Age of Voltron?!\u00a0 Count me in.<\/em><\/p>\n So I\u2019m sitting there watching all of the previews when the lights dim and we slip into one final (and overly long, if you ask me) preview about a new superhero movie pertaining to the Avengers.\u00a0 You know the Avengers: Iron Man, The Hulk, Hawkeye (Hot Guy heh, heh, heh<\/em>), Captain America and so forth.<\/p>\n At some point it becomes puzzling to me why this preview is going on so long it almost seems like THIS is the movie, but Voltron has yet to make an appearance.\u00a0 So I lean to the\u00a0child on my left and whisper, \u201cIs this actually the movie we\u2019re here to watch?\u201d and receive an eyeroll in response.<\/p>\n Ok, totally not helpful.<\/em><\/p>\n So I lean right and whisper to the kid on that side, \u201cI\u2019m confused, is Voltron an AVENGER??\u201d\u00a0 Another eyeroll.<\/p>\n Ok, still not helpful and why is no one addressing the pressing Voltron issue?!?<\/em><\/p>\n Long story short: The name of the movie turned out to actually be \u201cAvengers: The Age of ULTRON.\u201d\u00a0 (But say it fast.\u00a0 It sounds like the Age of Voltron, yes?\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 Thank you.)<\/p>\n So now we\u2019re to the part of the blog\u00a0where I wanted to tell you I felt like my mother.<\/p>\n How so?\u00a0 Glad you asked\u2026<\/p>\n One time my sisters and I took my mom to see that movie \u201cAbout a Boy.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0Hugh Grant was in it and the movie was described as being about a boy and a cad.<\/p>\n Except when we were explaining the movie\u00a0to my mother, she thought we said it was about a boy and a\u2026CAT.\u00a0 So she waited the whoooooooole movie expecting the cat to show up.\u00a0 And was extremely puzzled when it didn\u2019t.\u00a0 A movie about a boy and a cat and then there\u2019s no CAT?!?\u00a0 That\u2019s stupid.\u00a0 Completely stupid.<\/p>\n Anyway, that\u2019s why I felt like my mother.\u00a0 Going to see a movie that was NOTHING it was billed to be.\u00a0 Naming a movie after Voltron and then not even having Voltron IN the movie??\u00a0 That\u2019s stupid.\u00a0 Completely stupid.<\/p>\n Hi Mom!\u00a0 Happy Mother\u2019s Day.\u00a0 I love you.\u00a0 I thought of you today.\u00a0 I FELT like you today.\u00a0 And I\u2019m just wondering if you ever found that cat?!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I have a brother.\u00a0 I have a son.\u00a0 I know me a little sum\u2019in sum\u2019in about Voltron, Defender of the Universe.\u00a0 He was a big robot-y guy who was made up of five smaller dog robots.\u00a0 Sounds bizarre on paper, but is true enough in cartoon-land.
