Did you ever play that game called Telephone?\u00a0 Where one person whispers something and it\u2019s passed down the line until the last person has to say the now-mangled message out loud?\u00a0 Then everyone laughs HA HA HA<\/em> at how far the message had strayed from the original.<\/p>\n

Well this blog isn\u2019t about that game, so I\u2019m not sure why you\u2019re even talking about that game in the first place.<\/p>\n

This blog is about how I can\u2019t tell my kids apart on the telephone.\u00a0 Every phone call with my kids goes something like this:<\/p>\n

Ring, ring.\u00a0 Ring, ring.<\/em><\/p>\n

An 11 or 12 year old boy or girl answers the phone: Hello?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Me: Hi\u2026\u2026.there.\u00a0 How are you?<\/p>\n

S\/he: Good.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 Oh, that\u2019s good.\u00a0 Are you doing your homework?<\/p>\n

S\/he: Yep.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 Ohhhhkay.\u00a0 Is your\u2026\u2026.sibling doing\u2026.their homework?<\/p>\n

S\/he: Uh-huh. You wanna talk to my\u2026.sibling?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 Yes, yes I do.<\/p>\n

-The\u2026..child pulls the phone away from\u2026\u2026their ear and goes to hunt down\u2026…the other child.\u00a0 At which point I can hear the following conversation:<\/p>\n

Thing 1: It\u2019s Mom.\u00a0 She wants to talk to my\u2026.sibling.\u00a0 Which means she doesn\u2019t know who we are again.\u00a0 Don\u2019t tell her, ok?<\/p>\n

Thing 2:\u00a0 Ok.<\/p>\n

-Whereupon Thing 2 grabs the phone and says,<\/p>\n

S\/he: Hi, Mom.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 Hi\u2026\u2026You.\u00a0 Did I ever tell you how much you sound like your\u2026.sibling on the phone?<\/p>\n

S\/he:\u00a0Yeah, I\u00a0know. You\u2019ve said that before.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Me:\u00a0 Well, did I also ever\u00a0tell you I put a camera above where you\u2019re standing and I\u2019m looking at the monitor right now and I can see it\u2019s YOU!<\/p>\n

S\/he: Mom.\u00a0 Stop.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

BAM!\u00a0 It\u2019s Sissy!!<\/em>\u00a0 Sonny would\u2019ve said, \u201cCome on, Mom.\u201d<\/p>\n

See?\u00a0 I AM a good mother.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure why you\u2019re even talking about me not being a good mother in the first place.\u00a0 You need to stop talking about stuff no one wants to talk about.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
