What better way to celebrate St. Patrick\u2019s Day than by making a prank phone call?!\u00a0 Using my remote camera capabilities, I can see that you all agree.\u00a0 So let\u2019s shout out all our fun perhaps accidental<\/span> St. Patrick\u2019s Day prank phone call stories.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll go first.<\/p>\n

But just a sec!\u00a0 Before we get there, by way of explanation, I need to tell you that today is my mother\u2019s birthday.\u00a0 Happy Birthday, Mom \u2013 we love you!!!\u00a0 <\/em>And when we were kids, we gave her all of the Birthday-on-St-Patrick\u2019s-Day-green-beer-for-breakfast-in-bed one woman should ever be subjected to.\u00a0 [Did I say beer?!\u00a0 Beer would\u2019ve been weird.\u00a0 I actually meant pancakes.\u00a0 And I believe at one point there were even green eggs.\u00a0 Mom, please verify the eggs.]<\/p>\n

So now that the green pancake (and possibly green eggs; still waiting for verification) portion of the event is over \u2013 forever \u2013 my siblings and I have moved on to plain ol\u2019 birthday phone calls.<\/p>\n

One March 17th<\/sup> a few years back, my kids and I called my mom early in the morning to wish her a happy birthday.\u00a0 I was also trying to hustle everyone out the door for school and work, so in my rush, I may have mis-dialed my parents\u2019 phone number in Virginia.\u00a0 I thought an Asian woman answered, but when I said, \u201cMom?\u201d she said, \u201cYes,\u201d so we launched in to a hearty cha-cha-cha version of Happy Birthday.<\/p>\n

Halfway through, there remained a niggling doubt about whether or not we were actually singing to my mother, so I called a halt to the whole thing and said again into the phone, \u201cWait\u2026MOM??\u201d<\/p>\n

To which the person on the other end \u2013 who may have been A<\/em> mom and was therefore required to listen patiently and without interruption to our singing, but perhaps wasn\u2019t MY<\/em> mom with a birthday on St. Patrick\u2019s Day, replied politely, \u201cI sorry.\u00a0 You have wrong number.\u201d<\/p>\n

But then, when she said it like that, it almost sounded IRISH!\u00a0 Ha, ha, ha.\u00a0 This, naturally, led me to believe that my sister and her daughters were visiting my parents and my sister\u2019s younger daughter had picked up the phone and was goofing around with us before putting my mother on the line.\u00a0 [And yes, I find it best to come up with the most cockamamie idea of what could possibly be happening<\/a> and then proceed as if it actually IS happening.]\u00a0 So, now, convinced that my niece had indeed picked up the phone and was using a fake Irish-bordering-on-Asian accent to screen my mother\u2019s birthday phone calls, I said to the voice on the other end, \u201cOhhhhh\u2026riiiiight\u2026is this crazy IRISH Niece?!?\u201d<\/p>\n

To which the voice replied again (politely, yet a bit more adamantly), \u201cI sorry.\u00a0 You.\u00a0 Have.\u00a0 Wrong.\u00a0 Number.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hmmmm\u2026despite my theory, we must really have the wrong number and just unloaded a HUGE blast of wackiness on this poor woman.<\/em><\/p>\n

So I hastily apologized and hung up.\u00a0 Sissy voiced the concern that perhaps the woman would call the cops on us.\u00a0 To which I replied, \u201cYes, she might.\u00a0 In fact, she probably should.\u00a0 But she\u2019s in Virginia and we\u2019re in Colorado, so she probably won\u2019t.\u201d\u00a0 The cops never did show.<\/em><\/p>\n

Then we called my real mother and sang a real happy birthday to her.\u00a0 Turns out my sister and the nieces weren\u2019t visiting at all.\u00a0 What a dumb idea; who thought of that idea, anyway?<\/em><\/p>\n

But in keeping with today\u2019s theme, next I\u2019d like to hear from anyone who has ever RECEIVED a bizarre singing <\/span>prank phone call on St. Patrick\u2019s Day.\u00a0 Anyone?\u00a0 Anyone??<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
