Can you tell what this is, sitting upside down under 6 inches of snow?\u00a0 Nooo??!<\/em><\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>Well I\u2019m completely shocked because it is \u2013 quite clearly \u2013 the boot bin that sits outside our trampoline, waiting to receive boots that the kids aren\u2019t wearing while they\u2019re jumping on the trampoline and which they don\u2019t want the dog to get at because he then runs around the yard with them.\u00a0 And once the dog runs off somewhere with their boots, they can never descend again from the trampoline and come back into the house because gasp! <\/em>they\u2019re in their SOCKS!!!\u00a0 So they just sit in their big giganto crib calling, calling, then waiting for mama to come get them and carry them to the changing table.<\/p>\n

Flashbacks aside, how\u2019s the \u201ctrampoline boot bin\u201d concept working for us so far?<\/p>\n

And when I say \u201cus\u201d I mean me, and obviously it\u2019s not working at all.<\/p>\n

And yes, it was my idea.\u00a0 And it was brilliant.\u00a0 Because the \u201cboots\u201d the kids were wearing to the trampoline* were actually MY winter boots, every pair of winter boots I\u2019ve ever owned in my life and which I\u2019ve kept because you never know when they\u2019re coming back in style.\u00a0 The problem was that when the kids would wear them on their hike to the tramp, they were squelching through a back yard filled with bloody snow<\/a> (now melted and turned to bloody mud) and a winter\u2019s worth of dog poop.\u00a0 This then caused horrible \u201cthings\u201d to become stuck to the bottom of the boots.\u00a0 (You know you\u2019re in real trouble when it\u2019s your dearest hope that it\u2019s just bloody mud on the bottom of your boots.)\u00a0 And when the dog would steal the boots from beside the tramp and romp around the yard with them, they would get tooth punctures and bloody mud (hoping\u2026fingers crossed) all up and down the sides of the boots and bloody mud (come on bloody mud!) even IN the boots on two occasions.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s when I came up with the brilliant Boot Bin Plan so as to save all of my soon-to-be-fashionable-again boots from total\u00a0destruction.\u00a0 The Boot Bin Plan dictated that when the kids mounted the tramp hee hee hee and you know why I\u2019m giggling, you dirty bird<\/em> they were to put their ok, really my<\/em> boots in the bin which had been placed strategically up and out of the way on the side of the tramp where the dog couldn\u2019t get to them\/it\/anything.<\/p>\n

Boot Bin Plan ENGAGE!<\/em>\u00a0happened a grand total of ONCE.\u00a0 Then the bin got knocked to the ground after everyone got their my<\/em> boots back OUT post-tramp activities.\u00a0 Where it calmly sat, minding its own business, until the dog pee\u2019d into it.\u00a0 Then, because a boot\u00a0bin full of dog pee is completely gross and deserves to be pitched further into the yard and never cleaned out, it got pitched further into the yard and never\u00a0cleaned out.\u00a0 So there it sits.\u00a0 Out there in the snow.\u00a0 My brilliant plan.\u00a0 Just sitting there.\u00a0 In the snow.\u00a0 No boots\u00a0in it.\u00a0 Just frozen dog pee.\u00a0 Upside down.<\/p>\n

So again, I ask, how\u2019s this plan working for me so far?\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 That\u2019s about right.\u00a0 Just as well as every other plan I\u2019ve ever had which involves cooperation from kids, dogs and boots.<\/p>\n

*The kids call the trampoline the \u201ctramp.\u201d\u00a0 This adds a whole level of hilarity (for me at least) when they call their\u00a0friends to ask them if they want to come over and jump on the tramp.\u00a0 Ha ha ha.\u00a0 It\u2019s funny.\u00a0 Now bug off, I\u2019m busy.\u00a0 I gotta go get a certain bin outta the snow and clean it.\u00a0 I hope I only get bloody mud on my boots while I’m doing it.\u00a0 Hoping…hoping…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
