In celebration of this Ween\u00a0of Hallows, I thought it would be apropos to tell each other stories about the word \u201cBoo!\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>[As a side note on the usage of the word \u2018apropos\u2019 – French Major is in the maison!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Whoop\u00e9e whoop\u00e9e!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And I know JUST what you\u2019re thinking: quel dommage that I haven\u2019t been hired yet, n\u2019est-ce pas?!]<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Anyway.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Back to our Boo Stories.<\/span>\u00a0 Great idea by the way.<\/em>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>I\u2019ll go first.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When I had a job <\/span>and no, I still don\u2019t have another.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>See comment above about it being a pity that I haven\u2019t been hired yet.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>But thanks for asking.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>ALWAYS with the asking.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/em>stink eye, stink eye<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And huh, that\u2019s weird, <\/span>because even though I said <\/span><\/em>I<\/span> was going first, YOU apparently went first with your \u2018Boo!\u2019 story.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>It was all [sarcastic now, waving hands in the air] BOO-hoo New Stay at Home Mom doesn\u2019t have a job after all this time.<\/span>\u00a0 And q<\/span>uite frankly, I found your\u00a0story boring and repetitive.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And a bit sad-sack for my tastes.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>So your turn\u2019s done now.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

My turn.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was standing at the elevator at the end of the work day, waiting to go home.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>A man comes around the corner, places his hands on my shoulders suddenly and yells in my ear, \u201cBOO!!!!!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I could see all of this happening in the relfecto elevator doors, so I wasn\u2019t nearly as surprised as he was when I turned around.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>His eyes flew wide and he said, \u201cOh no!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I TOTALLY thought you were someone else!!!\u201d<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Really?\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>There\u2019s ANOTHER pretty, funny chick who works around here!??<\/span><\/em>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The man apologized profusely and I stepped in the elevator and went on with my evening.<\/span><\/p>\n

The next time I saw him, I yelled \u201cBoo!\u201d at him.\u00a0 He yelled “Boo!” back.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>We laughed and walked away.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And thus began the seven-year saga of \u201cBoo!\u201d<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We would never actually speak to eachother when we would see one another in the hall, on the elevator, in the building lobby.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>We would simply exchange two words:<\/span>\u00a0 Boo!…BOO!! <\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>And go on our way.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes the Boo!…BOO!!<\/em>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>would be outright shout-y.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Sometimes we would channel certain personas like Thug-ee-Dee saying Boo!<\/em><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>complete with \u201cWord to your Mother\u201d hand gestures.<\/span>\u00a0 And other times<\/span>?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>It would almost be like we were exchanging terms of endearment, \u201cHey, Boo.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWassup, Boo.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

No matter what the Boo-style was, in all that time, I never really said more to him than Boo!…BOO!!\u00a0<\/em> <\/span><\/span>In fact, I couldn\u2019t even tell you what his name is.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I never knew it.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I referred to him simply as \u201cBoo\u201d to co-workers, friends and family.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

That wasn\u2019t for lack of trying on Boo\u2019s part, though.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>He would attempt\u00a0to strike up a conversation, but I would just give him the zip-lip sign.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>It just seemed WAY funnier to never actually speak to eachother, to just say <\/span>Boo!…BOO!!<\/span><\/em> and walk away.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Aaaah, so funny.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Frickin\u2019 hilarious in fact.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Anyway, my story\u2019s done now.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And all I have to say is I miss all the boos I used to have at work.<\/span>\u00a0 heh, heh, heh<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But before you go, let\u2019s do it one more time for old-time\u2019s sake.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>We\u2019ll be English Gents tipping our hats to eachother.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cI say what, what!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Good day and Boo to you!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And now you say, \u201cGood day and Boo to you TOO!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Cheerio!!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Wow.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>I gotta say that wasn\u2019t nearly as fun as I thought it was gonna be.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>But thanks for playing.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
