Did you ever have to read that book by Margaret Craven\u00a0for some overachiever, extracurricular bookclub thingie at school?\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Well Sissy has to and that\u2019s the only reason I brought it up.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s about a missionary who goes to live with an Indigenous tribe in British Columbia (Native Canadians?!).\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>I won\u2019t tell you anything else about the book other than the missionary bites it,\u00a0but only after he hears a certain creature do something with this name.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

[Since I didn\u2019t ACTUALLY tell you the end of the story, no spoiler alert was necessary!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>At least I didn\u2019t go all <\/span><\/span>Murder of Roger Ackroyd<\/span><\/a> on you\u2019re a$$ and tell you that the murderer is the narrator, right?] <\/span><\/p>\n

Oh.\u00a0 Actually, there is one\u00a0OTHER reason I brought the book up.\u00a0 An owl has been sitting on my roof for the last week or so.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>At about 3:30 in the morning he calls out his rapid-fire question, \u201cWhowhowho whoooooooo?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Whoooooo.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Uhhhh.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Are you asking ME?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>In which case, thanks and this has been fun, but you can just SHUT IT with the repetitive questions, Hootie and the Blowfish, \u2018cause it\u2019s 3:30 in the ay to the ehm.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>The call for nominations closed a good long while ago!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

In the morning, when I quiz everyone about\u00a0whether or not they heard the owl, everyone acts mystified about what an owl even IS.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Owl?\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>OWL?!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Nooooo\u2026.no owl.<\/span><\/em>\u00a0 <\/span>The kids haven\u2019t heard him.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Hubby hasn\u2019t heard him.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And\u00a0the dog \u2013 who hears every noise both real and imagined, especially when Hubby is away on a business trip \u2013 acts like he doesn\u2019t even speak English when I question him about the owl.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ok, crap.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>A couple of things here: is the owl noise in my head bothering anyone?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And if by some chance it\u2019s NOT actually all in my head, I hope to High Heaven that\u00a0Mr. Wise Old doesn’t\u00a0start in with, \u201cWho? <\/span>\u00a0<\/span>WHOOO?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>New Stay at Home Mom, that\u2019s WHO!\u201d<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
