Let\u2019s pause on this busy Friday so I can brag on my Homegirl.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Whoop, whoop!<\/span>\u00a0 snap snap snap<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

You ever see something that qualifies as \u201cpoetry in motion?\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And I\u2019m not just talking about that running-on-the-beach scene from the movie Chariots of Fire.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m talking about LIVE and in COLOR, real-life, poetry in motion??!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

First off, there\u2019s Sissy in softball pants.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Chick has the cutest butt EVER.<\/span>\u00a0 Well, aside from her father\u2019s butt, but this is a family show, so moving along\u2026<\/em><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>It\u2019s like two red delicious apples in a bag.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>So biteable and nummy.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And I mean this all in a maternal-yet-jealous-of-my-twelve-year-old\u2019s-butt sort of way so please don\u2019t report me to the authorities.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Because my butt, due to its amorphous nature, is the complete antithesis of hers.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Thank you.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>We all have our gifts.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Butt really heh-heh-heh<\/em><\/span><\/span> what I actually wanted to say is Sissy playing softball IS poetry in motion.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I have seen it and lived to tell the tale.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The setting?\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>The final softball tournament of the season this past weekend.<\/span>\u00a0 And trust me when I say thank GOD softball season is over.<\/em>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>That sport just gets way wack at the end.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Especially that part where one of the coach\u2019s wives yells obscenities at the umpire during the final game and is asked by MY husband to keep it under control or leave.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And no, I wasn\u2019t the wife in question.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>But thanks for casting aspersions.<\/span><\/em>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Back to my darling baby girl.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Who is the most amazing baby girl who ever lived.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>In fact I\u2019m not sure why people continue to have baby girls when I have the best one in the land.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Picture it: Final game of the tournament.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Sissy\u2019s team is already mentally beat.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>All except for Sissy because my sweet girl is balls-to-the-wall, in-it-to-win-it each and every time.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>In softball and life in general.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

She\u2019s playing shortstop.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And every time the catcher throws the ball over the pitcher\u2019s head, Sissy meets it at Second Base.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>The ball arrives as she\u2019s standing firmly on the bag and in one fluid motion she reaches up as high as her arm will go, catches the ball in her glove and swings the glove down and out and touches the opponent sliding into second.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I can\u2019t even express the sheer poetry-in-motion that this move is.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

She did this at LEAST three times during that game.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And EVERY TIME, the ump called the other team SAFE!!!!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Run, stretch, catch, swoop and tag before the other girl had her foot on the base.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Sissy would turn her sweet freckled face expectantly to the ump standing three feet away.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And he would call the opponent SAFE!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Every.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Time.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Makes you wanna swear too, doesn\u2019t it?!?\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And don\u2019t make me say this again, but I SWEAR to you it was NOT ME swearing at the ump. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>Even though I had every right.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Gaah, nothing gums up poetry-in-motion more than a bad call.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Also of interest?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>The fact that the umps were wearing matching shirts with the opposing team.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Weird, no?!?<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Needless to say, Sissy\u2019s team lost that game.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>And therefore lost the tournament.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>But that ump walked up to Sissy at the end of the game and gave her the one MVP coin awarded.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And that\u2019s why I have to brag for a sec on the best little girl who ever was.\u00a0 Moving through life with a winning attitude, even in the face of certain defeat.<\/span>\u00a0 Well rounded, good at math, a Straight A student and great at sports too.\u00a0\u00a0In all things,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>s<\/span>he\u2019s willing to go again and again no matter what the outcome.<\/span>\u00a0 And she is the embodiment of\u00a0<\/span>physical beauty\u00a0on the sports field and off.<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0And yes, if we\u2019re being honest with ourselves, she’s got a\u00a0super cute butt.\u00a0 <\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I hope I grow up to be just like her.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Including that part about the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>butt.\u00a0\u00a0Well…and the math.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
