Hi Hubby,<\/span><\/p>\n

Hope your four-day\u00a0business trip to Chicago is going well?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Seems like there was something I had wanted to talk to you about before you left; But I can\u2019t think what it was now.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Oh well.<\/span>\u00a0 So\u00a0<\/span>I guess I better get back to my big stair project.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And yes, the kids ARE helping.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>They seem\u00a0downright happy to help if you ask me \u2013 and not just because I threatened to never feed them again if they didn\u2019t.\u00a0 Summer reading assignments pale in comparison to the fun that this project is.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And we\u2019re all wearing safety glasses too.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>That was a big brainstorm I had after Sissy was standing 7 steps above my head and got poked by something INSIDE her gloves.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>(They were my leather gardening gloves because I thought it would be important to protect her hands from all those annoying \u201ctack strips\u201d all over the place.)<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>So when she turned the glove over\u00a0to see what was inside, about 5 pounds of woodchips poured out onto my head.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Just that one woodchip got in my eye \u2013 and it wasn\u2019t really even directly related to what we were doing \u2013 but it gave me that great safety glasses idea nonetheless.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u2018Cept I couldn\u2019t find any safety glasses, so we\u2019re doing more of a \u201csunglass\u201d thing and less of a \u201csafetyglass\u201d thing.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Sonny is wearing a pair of his old wraparound Spiderman shades and Sissy has an old time-y pair of black sunglasses with purple tinted lenses (remember those?) and I\u2019m wearing my old sports sunglasses.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>So if you happened to peek into the open front door, it might look like the three blind mice are ripping carpet off the stairs.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Why is the front door open so that all the neighbors (and everyone who has to take that main road detour through our neighborhood) can see the craziness within, you ask?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Because the front porch is where we\u2019re housing the garbage cans, which is where we\u2019re putting all of the nail-filled, extremely poke-y, stank ho carpet we\u2019re ripping off the stairs prior to us sanding then painting said stairs.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Duh!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>But we covered up the front door with a baby gate so the dog – and\u00a0others who might be tempted\u00a0to escape – can’t.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>It’s almost like a\u00a0living\u00a0\u201cdiorama.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>A diorama of people whose futures are so bright they gotta wear shades.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>While they do hard labor.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But the BEST part of all of this?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Is that we found out where that dog pee smell (that permeates the entire house despite repeated professional carpet cleanings) is coming from.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I can\u2019t even IMAGINE what kind of personal challenge the dog took on with that.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>But it seems like he got just about every stair with his\u2026er\u2026challenge.<\/span>\u00a0 What a w<\/span>eirdo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Anyway, hope you\u2019re having fun.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And no, don\u2019t worry.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>We\u2019ll save most of this project for you to finish when you get home.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Because we\u2019re nice like that.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
