I\u00a0don\u2019t know why I\u2019m thinking of this <\/span>could it have anything to do with a <\/span>certain someone\u2019s BIRTHDAY being last week<\/span><\/a>?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/em>but for the last few days I\u2019ve been remembering how \u2013 when I brought my daughter home from the hospital \u2013 I became a complete mess of worries.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>(And yes, that\u2019s PLURAL.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>That\u2019s the plural for wackadoodle all the live long day.)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I worried about EVERYTHING.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I worried that I might trip coming out of her nursery and accidentally send her sailing over the railing of the upstairs walkway to the family floor below.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I worried that she might die in the night and so I would sneak into her room half a dozen times and bump the crib just to see her rustle around.<\/span><\/p>\n

And then I heard the story of that mother who, during some sort of postpartum psychosis, CUT HER INFANT DAUGHTERS ARMS OFF WITH A KNIFE!!!!<\/span><\/p>\n

I called my husband crying over that and couldn\u2019t shake the horribleness of it loose for days and days.<\/span>\u00a0 And it’s right about that time I began\u00a0to <\/span>worry about strangers.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>My biggest \u201cstranger\u201d fear was that someone would sneak into the house at night and take my daughter from her room and do her wrong.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>(My daughter\u2019s room was the first one at the top of the stairs, making her easy pickins\u2019 for someone who wanted a massive, zitty infant with cradle cap and was willing to get past all the locked doors in the house AND the 110 pound dog AND up a flight of stairs to the bedroom at the top all just to SNATCH her in the middle of the night.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Did I mention that part about wackadoodle all the live long day?!?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Yeah.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m pretty sure I mentioned that already.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u2018Cept make it wackadoodle all the live long NIGHT too.)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After this oh-so-fun-fear had been top-of-mind for a week or so, I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>For no apparent reason.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019m lying in bed listening to the house sounds.<\/span>\u00a0 Wondering why I had woken up.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And then I hear it.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>There\u2019s a woman in my daughter\u2019s room talking to her!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

THIS IS IT!!!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>THIS IS IT!!!!<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I don\u2019t remember if I even woke my husband to explain what was going on.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I just remember thinking that my biggest fear had come to pass\u2026but that I had to put a stop to it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So I go bustin\u2019 into the baby’s room!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>No weapons, no nuthin\u2019.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Just my Mother\u2019s Courage and my leaky breasts.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

My newborn daughter jerks awake and starts crying.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And I realize that the woman\u2019s voice I heard in my room is actually coming through the baby monitor.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>The\u00a0woman five houses up the street also had a newborn and for some reason the monitor signals got crossed.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>She had been talking quietly to HER baby.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>In MY baby\u2019s room.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

HAHAHAHahahahahahaha!!!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Isn\u2019t that FUNNY?!?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SO\u00a0FUNNY!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

No cause for alarm folks.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Carry on.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And I don\u2019t know why I\u2019m telling you this.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Other than to prove that I\u2019m a good mother.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
