So I’m finally reading Inferno<\/em> by Dan Brown. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Is it just me or does anyone else think that “The Consortium” in the book is eerily similar to “The Foundation” that Kelly Taylor worked for on that show from the late 80’s, Beverly Hills 90210?!
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/span>For some strange reason my husband always referred to Beverly Hills 90210 as Beverly Cheese Nine Oh Cheese One Cheese. I can’t think why ’cause it was a real \u201cquality\u201d show wherein all of the eating disorders were solved at a restaurant-com-nightclub called the Peach Pit (After Dark). Total. Quality. Show.
\n<\/span><\/em>
\n Anywho, Inferno<\/em> has all the usual Dan Brown bidnid \u2013 history, art, codes, symbolism blah, blah, blah.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>But with the added benefit of being based on Sandro Botticelli\u2019s extremely gruesome \u201cMap of Hell\u201d drawing – which itself is based on the descent-into-hell portion of Dante Alighieri\u2019s \u201cDivine Comedy\u201d.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>So that\u2019s\u2026fun.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s even this one part in the book where the main character, Robert Langdon,\u00a0describes\u00a0how one theoretically gets to Hell.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And if you\u2019ve ever taken Robert Langdon\u2019s Harvard Hell 101 course, you know that you have to cross the River Styx to get there.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>The ferryman Charon takes you in his boat to the mouth of the underworld.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Wait.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>A.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Second.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Did someone say FERRYMAN?!?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dah-nahhhh-nah-na-nah!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Dah-nahhhh-nah-NAH!!<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Don’t pay the ferryman
\n<\/span> Don’t even fix a price
\n<\/span> Don’t pay the ferryman
\n<\/span> Until he gets you to the other side<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

And now?\u00a0 Now t<\/span>he <\/span>Chris de Burgh song \u201cDon\u2019t Pay the Ferryman\u201d is in my head.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And yes, that IS the same song from de Burgh’s “The Getaway” album which hit number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 song list in 1983.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This thing I do with 80\u2019s songs?<\/span>\u00a0 How I make it seem like there’s an 80’s song for every moment in life??\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s a gift really.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>But still, there should be an award for being so good at it.\u00a0 Being able to take a\u00a0<\/span>hellish book about all of the hellish symbolism in a hellish painting and give it a theme song?\u00a0 Amaze-balls.\u00a0 Awards Materials.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
