Remember in the 80\u2019s when Oprah Winfrey achieved fame and glory?!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Why did she\u00a0EVER think shoulder pads were slenderizing?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>That is a total mystery to me.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Because they WEREN\u2019T!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Ever.<\/span>\u00a0 Slenderizing that is – w<\/span>hether you were slender or not.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And I can talk this way about Oprah and her shoulder pads (and her slenderizing) because she and I have a unique relationship.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>In fact, I have a special nickname for her: Oh-ps (like Ops, as in Special Ops, but instead of a short \u2018O\u2019 it\u2019s a LONG \u2018O.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Special Oh-ps.)<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And she calls me nothing at all.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Because she has no idea who I am.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Even so, I remember something she said back when she was first achieving BigDipperillionaire status, \u201cDo what you love and the money will follow.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sound advice even if the fashion choices were a bit\u2026er\u2026questionable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flash forward to present day.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>There\u2019s this thing I \u201cdo\u201d now called being a stay at home mom.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>I love it and all\u2026.but it involves an inordinate amount of housework for some reason.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So\u00a0when I first started the job, a dear friend gave me some sound advice about the housework.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And no, it was a DIFFERENT friend, not Oh-ps.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Because Oh-ps doesn\u2019t clean her own house.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And we stopped being that great a\u2019 friends once she started complaining about how her ironed bedsheets lose their \u201ccrispness\u201d after being on the bed two days, so she has her housekeeper change them that frequently.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Yeah.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>We stopped being good pal-sies right about then.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/em>The advice I received was [in the form of a question for Mr. Trebek\u2019s benefit] why clean the entire house all at once when you\u00a0can clean it a lil\u2019 bit at a time?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Why, indeed??<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So I\u2019ve taken this advice to heart, which means that my house is never entirely clean.<\/span>\u00a0 All at one time.\u00a0 It’s only clean in\u00a0<\/span>some constantly moving quadrant area.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Like the upstairs.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>As of today.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I cleaned the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms today.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>And look what I found on my daughter\u2019s bureau!\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And there we have it.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Do what you love, and the money will follow.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Afterall, Oh-ps never did say what KIND of money would follow.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Just that THE MONEY would follow.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>It was my dumba$$ fault for assuming it would be BigDipperillionaire money.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>Because at the end of the day, no matter who changes your sheets or how frequently they do so, two crumpled ones and three pennies is still…technically…money.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And now?<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>For some strange reason I feel an 80\u2019s song comin\u2019 on!<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Dirty deeds, done dirt cheap.
