{"id":2965,"date":"2014-04-01T09:57:07","date_gmt":"2014-04-01T15:57:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=2965"},"modified":"2014-04-01T09:57:07","modified_gmt":"2014-04-01T15:57:07","slug":"april-fools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=2965","title":{"rendered":"April Fools!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Last night I put liquid raspberry jello in the kids\u2019 clear juice cups.\u00a0Then slipped a jaunty straw in each.\u00a0And presto, change-o!\u00a0By morning I had a fun April Fools prank on my hands.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">When the kids came down for breakfast, Hubby proposed a toast. (I made a \u201cdrink\u201d for him too, but he spotted right away that there was something off about it.\u00a0Probably because &#8211; for the first time ever &#8211; I\u00a0was offering him a drink of juice in the morning.\u00a0Whatevs.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">But he went along with it, and clinked glasses with the kids who then proceeded to suck on their straws.\u00a0They sucked.\u00a0And sucked.\u00a0And sucked.\u00a0You know how it is when your kids suck.\u00a0 <em>heh, heh, heh\u00a0<\/em> The first clue\u00a0that it wasn\u2019t real juice? Wasn&#8217;t that\u00a0they weren\u2019t getting anything through their straws after a\u00a0full minute of sucking!\u00a0 No.\u00a0 Instead,\u00a0Sissy finally noticed that her straw was \u201cstuck\u201d in her \u201cjuice.\u201d The gig was up.\u00a0April Fools!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Me fun.\u00a0Me fun\u00a0mom, right?!? [For future reference, the answer will always be, \u201cYes, so fun\u2026AND pretty.\u00a0And smart.\u201d\u00a0<em>Awwww, shucks!\u00a0Blush-y face.\u00a0What a nice thing to say.\u00a0Thank you! Thankyouverymuch!\u00a0<\/em>\u201cIt\u2019s a wonder to us why you don\u2019t have a job yet.\u201d\u00a0 <em>Ok, that\u2019s enough. You ruined it. But that\u2019s just like you. Always ruining it by bringing up the job thing. <\/em>Stink eye, stink eye.]<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Does April Fools Day always remind you guys\u00a0of\u00a0when I was Pledge Class President of my sorority &#8211; or is that just me?? {By the way, that stint as Pledge Class President\u00a0shows &#8220;leadership&#8221; to any prospective employers currently viewing my blog.}\u00a0Part of the\u00a0duty of\u00a0my appointed office\u00a0{Sheee&#8217;s so POP-u-lar!}\u00a0was to\u00a0plan\u00a0the Spring Rose Formal which would be attended by the entire sorority and their\u00a0boy-toys.\u00a0{This shows project management capabilities as well as organizational skills and a dim view of college boys.}\u00a0The Formal date just\u00a0happened to fall on April 1<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">st<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> 1989. {This shows longevity and dedication to excellence.\u00a0Screw you. There&#8217;s no need to mention I&#8217;ve been out of college for 25+ years. Just go with it.}\u00a0But what to do, what to do &#8211; how does one\u00a0work with a date like THAT?!?\u00a0{Problem solving skills much??\u00a0 I&#8217;m looking at you, Prospective Employers.}\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">So drawing on my\u00a0ingenuity and creative thinking, I came up with the theme: <strong>Why Do Fools Fall in Love<\/strong>.\u00a0 {See? Ingenious and creative, right?? <em>wink, wink,<\/em> youknowwho.}\u00a0I proceeded to corral the other pledges into helping me make\u00a0the requisite door signs announcing the date, theme etc. to the membership.\u00a0{Again, leadership. Along with\u00a0some \u201ccollaboration,\u201d not to mention\u00a0\u201cconsensus gathering\u201d as well as a\u00a0smidge of \u201cgaining buy-in from those I have no direct managerial authority over.\u201d\u00a0Can I get an Amen, Sista?!}<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">What were these doors signs with all Formal details documented and placed outside each sister\u2019s dorm or apartment door?\u00a0{Notice &#8220;attention to detail&#8221; here.\u00a0\u00a0And did you also notice how I\u00a0just introduced mystery and intrigue to my storytelling?\u00a0 Oh&#8230;and\u00a0STORYTELLING??\u00a0 Always helpful in the marketing arena.}\u00a0 They were multi-dimensional Court Jester heads-on-sticks.\u00a0 Like Punch, from Punch-and-Judy fame.\u00a0 The first \u201cfools\u201d who fell in love.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">Oh.\u00a0 My.\u00a0 Gawd!\u00a0 I know, right?!!\u00a0 SOOOO stinkin\u2019 creative.\u00a0It\u2019s a total wonder to me TOO\u00a0why I don\u2019t have a job yet.\u00a0Hire me already, ya FOOLS!\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri; font-size: medium;\">P.S.\u00a0 You should see what I have planned for dinner tonight. To go along with the chicken I\u2019m baking, I\u2019m also serving \u201cmashed potatoes and gravy.\u201d Or am I?!?
