{"id":2650,"date":"2014-02-18T09:52:09","date_gmt":"2014-02-18T16:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=2650"},"modified":"2014-02-18T09:52:09","modified_gmt":"2014-02-18T16:52:09","slug":"ice-dancing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=2650","title":{"rendered":"Ice Dancing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">In order to have any sort of logical conversation about Ice Dancing, it\u2019s important to get the \u201cTwizzle\u201d definition out of the way\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cTwizzle\u201d is a rum-based drink\u00a0they hand you as you\u2019re boarding the booze cruise on the fake pirate ship in the Bahamas during Spring Break.\u00a0 What it has to do with Ice Dancing, I can\u2019t say.\u00a0 Maybe it makes the skaters loose-limbed enough to do all those one-footed twirls?\u00a0 They all do lots of those twirls, just exactly the same,\u00a0so this is quite likely the explanation.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If it were me?\u00a0 All that twirling would make the rum twizzles suddenly\u2026reappear!\u00a0 <em>Ta-da!\u00a0 Rough seas ahead, matey!\u00a0 <\/em>But these are professional skaters.\u00a0 Dancers.\u00a0 Skaters.\u00a0 So they\u2019re used to all the twirling, post-rum drinks.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">So now that we have that out of the way, let\u2019s discuss Ice Dancing, shall we?\u00a0 Have I ever SEEN Ice Dancing before?\u00a0 It seems like I have.\u00a0 But then, when the announcers mention that this couple or that couple were the silver medalists from the last Olympics \u2013 and they don\u2019t look familiar to me at ALL \u2013 I think maybe I haven\u2019t ever seen Ice Dancing afterall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">But now I\u2019m on it.\u00a0 And I\u2019ve got Meryl and Charlie locked in my brain.\u00a0 <em>Congrats on the gold medal, by the way.\u00a0 Did the Canadian couple jump you in the parking lot on the way out?\u00a0 \u2018Cause they looked like they wanted to.\u00a0 But maybe they\u2019re saving that for when y&#8217;ins\u00a0get home?\u00a0 That way they can include your\/their coach-with-the-bangs in the takedown.<\/em>\u00a0 So I\u2019ll totally remember them for NEXT Olympics.\u00a0 And in case YOU can\u2019t picture them, Meryl is the one who looks the most like the Disney Princess Jasmine of any living human on\u00a0earth.\u00a0 And Charlie looks like the actor Jeff Daniels in that movie \u201cDumb &amp; Dumber.\u201d\u00a0 <em>It&#8217;s the hair.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But you know who I\u2019ll REALLY remember for next time when it comes to Ice Dancing?\u00a0 That brother and sister team \u2013 Alex and Maia Sibutanis.\u00a0 \u00a0First off, they come in handy when I\u2019m threatening my kids about their behavior towards each other, \u201c<em>If you can\u2019t get along, I\u2019m gonna make you go into ICE DANCING like the Sibutanis.\u00a0 And then you\u2019ll have to be together ALL THE TIME.\u00a0 ON THE ICE.\u00a0 DANCING!<\/em>\u201d \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">But in addition to being used as an example of brotherly\/sisterly love, they \u00a0danced\u2026skated\u2026danced\u2026their last dance\u2026skate\u2026dance\u2026to a Michael Jackson compilation.\u00a0 Come on!\u00a0 That was so frickin\u2019 awesome!!!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">The rest of the competitors talked to my older sisters about what music they should use in their programs (I\u2019m 100% sure I heard the Love Theme from Romeo and Juliet as well as \u201cTo Dream the Impossible Dream\u201d from Man of La Mancha \u2013 two of my sisters\u2019 piano sheet-music faves from back in the day).\u00a0 And when they weren\u2019t talking to my sisters, they were talking to my high school choir director, Mr. Beavers.\u00a0 Because there was LOTS of 42<\/span><sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">nd<\/span><\/sup><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> Street (<em>on the avenue I\u2019m takin\u2019 ya to\u2026Forty.\u00a0 Second.\u00a0 Street!<\/em>) and even a \u201cBei mir bist du schon\u201d by the Andrew Sisters.\u00a0 (<em>Bei mir bist du schon?\u00a0 Please let me explain.\u00a0 Bei mir bist du schon means that you\u2019re\u2026.GRAND!<\/em>\u00a0 Ok\u2026stopping now.\u00a0 But first?
