My\u00a0husband got\u00a0toilet bowl cleaner for me the other day.\u00a0 (I know, I know.\u00a0 I’m not doing anything ELSE…so why would\u00a0my husband<\/em>\u00a0get the toilet bowl cleaner,\u00a0right?!\u00a0 But he was at the store and hey!\u00a0 He ASKED if I needed anything while he was there.\u00a0 He’ll learn to keep his big mouth shut next time, won’t he?\u00a0 Hi, Honey!\u00a0 Luv ya!!!)\u00a0 So he\u00a0got the cleaner.\u00a0\u00a0But it has bleach in it.<\/p>\n

Which prompted\u00a0visions of me\u00a0skulking from bathroom to bathroom, carrying a wet\u00a0scrubby-brush-thingie…and leaving a trail of\u00a0drips behind.\u00a0\u00a0Then, like\u00a0some\u00a0demented (dirty bathroom)\u00a0version of Hansel and Gretel, you would always be able to find your way back to me by following the\u00a0bleach spots\u00a0on the carpet.\u00a0 So I quickly nixed the toilet bowl cleaner with bleach idea.<\/p>\n

Instead I<\/em> went to the store and got two different kinds of toilet bowl cleaner without bleach.\u00a0 And I’m gonna see which one works best.\u00a0 I’m gonna do a bake off.\u00a0 Except with toilet bowl cleaners.\u00a0 And I promise to\u00a0keep you posted because I know how important this sort of thing is to all of us.<\/p>\n

First up is a disinfectant toilet bowl cleaner that also removes rust, lime scale and hard water stains.\u00a0 Yes.\u00a0 This is a problem.\u00a0 I clean the toilet but due to (I’m assuming slash hoping) hardwater stains\u00a0immediately afterwards it looks like it hasn’t\u00a0been cleaned.\u00a0 So what’s the point of cleaning it, right?\u00a0 Or maybe I haven’t been cleaning the toilets and instead have\u00a0just been claiming I have but those dratted hardwater stains always make them look dirty!\u00a0 (mwa ha ha…insert evil bathroom cleaning laugh here)<\/p>\n

There’s no bleach in this cleaner\u00a0and in fact it doesn’t want anything to do with bleach since on the back it (very firmly) states that I shouldn’t mix it with\u00a0bleach.\u00a0 This has to be a good sign that nothing bad will come of this.\u00a0 Although I have to admit that the “warning” is a little off-putting.\u00a0 As is the entire list of first-aid approaches and “what to do” should you get it: in your eyes, on your skin, in your throat, in your nose.\u00a0 “What to do” basically consists of clawing off\u00a0the contaminated part\u00a0and going to the hospital.\u00a0 Good Heavens – they don’t pay me enough to do this!\u00a0 I should get time-and-a-half AND hazard pay!!!<\/p>\n

The second\u00a0cleaner I’m planning to\u00a0try promises a “complete” clean (yeah – ’cause mostly I’ve been doing the half-a$$ed clean and really, where is that getting me?!).\u00a0 In addition to killing 99.9% of all viruses and bacteria in the world, it cleans “organic soil” stains.\u00a0 What?!?? \u00a0Gaaack!\u00a0 gaaaAAACCKKKK!!!\u00a0 Is that a euphemism for what I think it is??\u00a0 Oh boy.\u00a0 I am NOT making enough money doing this.\u00a0 But really, that’s a no-brainer because that’s what I’m TRYING to clean when I clean the toilet.\u00a0 Organic soil stains.\u00a0\u00a0Gag.<\/p>\n

But on the bright side, it doesn’t contain bleach.\u00a0 So we’re good.\u00a0 Instead it contains hydrochloric acid.\u00a0 That’s totally fine, right?\u00a0 But why am I now thinking of\u00a0mad scientists handling bubbling beakers of noxious liquids?\u00a0 Wearing safety glasses??\u00a0 Which is what it says I should be doing when I clean the toilet using this product.\u00a0 Oh – and I shouldn’t use the toilet after cleaning the toilet without first cleaning my hands.\u00a0 Phew!\u00a0 I’m glad we got that cleared up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
