Yay!\u00a0 It\u2019s Fur Trapper Friday!!\u00a0 Whoop, whoop!<\/em>\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Oh??\u00a0 You don\u2019t know anything about this?!?\u00a0 It always comes on the Friday AFTER Ground Hog day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>Well\u2026here in Colorado at least.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I grew up in New Jersey, so while I can tell you that Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr dueled to the death in Weehawken, I can\u2019t really tell you too much about Colorado\u2019s great tradition of fur trapping and trading.\u00a0 Other than what I learned as a New Jersey youth while watching that sweeping miniseries in the late 70\u2019s about fur trapping and trading \u2013 entitled Centennial, based on the book of the same name by James Michener.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ta-da!!!\u00a0 That\u2019s it.\u00a0 That\u2019s all I know about fur trapping and trading. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ok, that\u2019s a lie.\u00a0 I also know that Stephanie Zimbalist went on to star in Remington Steele opposite Pierce Brosnan in the early 80\u2019s, so we don\u2019t need to worry too much about that tent scene.\u00a0 80\u2019s girl dun good, reeeeeeal good ifyouknowwhadimean.\u00a0 nudge, nudge, wink, wink<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And?\u00a0 Still lying.\u00a0 I also know that the miniseries was amazingly confusing and had waaaay too many characters (kinda like Game of Thrones but Fur Trapper version), some bad French accents and a good part of it was set in Colorado.\u00a0 So that\u2019s gotta tell us something about how important fur trapping and trading is to Colorado.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, the youth of Colorado are schooled in the importance of this early industry and spend a whole trimester studying fur trapping and trading.\u00a0 Who knew?\u00a0 Not me.\u00a0 But in honor of Fur Trapper Friday, let\u2019s see if YOU are smarter than a 4<\/span>th<\/span><\/sup> grader in this particular subject\u2026<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
