I love me some middle lane.<\/p>\n
Just wanted to overshare with you that this occurred to me on the way home from the airport after dropping my parents off this morning.\u00a0 (Thanks for the great visit, Mom & Dad!)<\/p>\n
By toodling down the middle lane, you don\u2019t have to get involved in that whole Road Rage Crazy Town happenin\u2019 off to your left.\u00a0 And you can outsmart the Slow Poke Posse exiting or entering the ramps to your right.\u00a0 Also?\u00a0 You get to go a decent enough speed that you feel like you\u2019re making progress.\u00a0 Accomplishing something.\u00a0 Not so fast that you\u2019ll be the first one busted should the Fuzz show.\u00a0 And not so slow that people are blasting past you with their fingers on high.<\/p>\n
The old me?\u00a0 The old me woulduv\u00a0been the Queen o\u2019 the Passing Lane.\u00a0 A Fast Lane Freakshow if you know whadImean.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t get where I was goin\u2019 FAST enough.\u00a0 There may have even been a time or two when I lifted my OWN finger as I blew past.\u00a0 (MAY have been, Mom.\u00a0 I said MAY have been.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t say FOR SURE.\u00a0 Just MAY have been.\u00a0 There\u2019s a difference.)<\/p>\n
The new me?\u00a0 I love me some middle lane.\u00a0 Life is SWEET in the middle lane.<\/p>\n
But what if this insight is bigger than finally finding my comfort zone on the highway?\u00a0 What if the HIGHWAY is really a metaphor for LIFE?!?<\/p>\n
Life.\u00a0 Is.\u00a0 A.\u00a0 Highway.\u00a0 In which case…<\/p>\n
Life is a highway You KNEW it was comin\u2019 right?\u00a0 You KNEW I had to do it!\u00a0 It\u2019s been WAY too long since I trotted out that neat trick.\u00a0 You may call it a scary glimpse into a disturbed mind-that-translates-everything-into-song-lyrics.\u00a0 But I call it a neat trick.\u00a0 And since this is MY blog, what I say goes.\u00a0 So shut your pie-hole.<\/p>\n And yes.\u00a0 Yes, technically Tom Cochrane DID release \u201cLife is a Highway\u201d in 1991 on his album Mad, Mad World<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0 But he most likely WROTE IT\u00a0in 1989.\u00a0 Which means I RULE!!!\u00a0 I rule in the \u201c80\u2019s song for every moment in life\u201d game we play.<\/p>\n I have always ruled.\u00a0 And I continue to rule.<\/p>\n Ruling.\u00a0 Ruling.\u00a0 Still ruling.\u00a0 Yep, still ruling\u2026<\/p>\n And lest you think this was all a set-up:\u00a0for the record, I DO actually love me some middle lane.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I love me some middle lane.
