{"id":2138,"date":"2013-11-05T09:49:23","date_gmt":"2013-11-05T16:49:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=2138"},"modified":"2013-11-05T20:50:25","modified_gmt":"2013-11-06T03:50:25","slug":"job-schmob","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=2138","title":{"rendered":"Job Schmob"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who needs a job?\u00a0 I.\u00a0 Am.\u00a0 BUSY!\u00a0 Here\u2019s what I have going on (in no particular order):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Teacher Appreciation Luncheon (I\u2019m collecting the cash donations).<\/li>\n<li>School fundraiser is coming up next weekend and I\u2019m doing Registration (and table seating, and making 350 registration packets, and handling all the last-minute loons.\u00a0 And trust me.\u00a0 There are mucho, mucho loons).<\/li>\n<li>Sissy&#8217;s\u00a0confirmation is this Saturday with out-of-town guests coming in.\u00a0 We\u2019ll have about a dozen peeps at a party afterwards.\u00a0 So there\u2019s plenty of planning going on for that.\u00a0 And you know what\u2019s particularly fun here?\u00a0 The basement bedroom flooded this week-end.\u00a0 Which is where my folks were going to sleep.\u00a0 The carpet is destroyed and the walls are saturated.\u00a0 Think we can get this all back to normal by Wednesday when they fly in?\u00a0 Sure gonna try!\u00a0 And that right there is good times.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m an unpaid housecleaner now, so I\u2019m doing all the housecleaning in the house.\u00a0 (Total drag, but that goes without saying.\u00a0 At least I don\u2019t have to clean the basement, right?\u00a0 Well\u2026today at least.)<\/li>\n<li>Grocery shopping, cooking, baking for family and aforementioned guests.<\/li>\n<li>Squozed in there are various meetings, sports practices, shopping trips, appointments etc. etc.<\/li>\n<li>Oh, and I was also trying to sew a slipcover for a chair.\u00a0 But that became a total clusterbomb so I only got as far as a slipcover for the ottoman.\u00a0 Stay tuned for Chair Slipcover Part II early next year.<\/li>\n<li>Hosting two tables for Advent by Candlelight.\u00a0 It\u2019s an evening where the school moms get together and \u201creflect\u201d (code for drink wine) before the craziness of the Christmas Season.\u00a0 I\u2019m hosting TWO tables which entails decorating and providing food (and mucho, mucho wine) for upwards of 20 women.\u00a0 That\u2019s the Monday AFTER the school fundraiser.\u00a0 &#8216;Reflect&#8217; more, breathe less.<\/li>\n<li>Interviewing student \u2018workers\u2019 for various \u2018jobs\u2019 that they\u2019ll hold in a pretend town in a few weeks.\u00a0 This Ameritowne program is quite nifty and teaches the kids some real world skills (like\u2026uh\u2026interviewing.\u00a0 Oh, and check-writing.\u00a0 I learned how to write a check FROM MY COLLEGE ROOMMATE!).\u00a0 Again, nifty program, but a boatload of work for the volunteer moms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And then a mom emailed me last night wondering if I\u2019d be collecting for the softball coach\u2019s end-of-season gift in time for the end-of-season party this Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Nein!!!<\/p>\n<p>The fresh, lovely, NEW stay at home me did the money collecting and coach gift buying last year &#8211;\u00a0in addition to bringing all of the toppings for the ice-cream party.\u00a0 Beat-up,\u00a0bedraggled, blogger\u00a0me (that\u2019s called ALLITERATION, Children) says NO WAY!<\/p>\n<p>Why?\u00a0 BECAUSE I\u2019M BUSY!!!<\/p>\n<p>P.S.\u00a0 Yes, Unemployment Office, I continue to make my five requisite job contacts per week.\u00a0 So let\u2019s add that to the list, shall we?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who needs a job?\u00a0 I.\u00a0 Am.\u00a0 BUSY!\u00a0 Here\u2019s what I have going on (in no particular order): Teacher Appreciation Luncheon (I\u2019m collecting the cash donations).
