So\u2026we\u2019ve established that I lied in my blog yesterday<\/a>.\u00a0 Fall is NOT my favorite time of year.\u00a0 Just as an FYI, Spring is my fave.\u00a0 (They \u2013 you know them \u2013 the people in charge of the world \u2013 say that you have an affinity for the season in which you were born.\u00a0 In my case it\u2019s true.)<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not to say that Fall in Colorado doesn\u2019t have its perks.\u00a0 Because it does; one of which\u00a0is that the Aspen trees\u00a0seem to change their leaves\u00a0all-at-the-same-time, thus creating fields of gold on the mountainsides.\u00a0 It\u2019s really quite beautiful.\u00a0 But you have to catch them at their peak!\u00a0 Otherwise they\u2019re just a scrabbly mess of mottled yellow.<\/p>\n

[I could mention here that I now have that Sting song\u00a0\u201cFields of Gold\u201d playing in my head:\u00a0\u00a0You\u2019ll remember me when the west wind moves, upon the fields of barley.\u00a0 You can tell the sun, in his jealous sky, when we walked in fields of gold.\u00a0 When we walked in fields of gold\u2026when we walked in fields of gold<\/em>\u2026]<\/p>\n

But I won\u2019t mention it.\u00a0\u00a0Because then YOU might say, \u201cActually, that wasn\u2019t an 80\u2019s song.\u00a0 It was released in 1993 on the album Ten Summoner\u2019s Tales<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 To which I might reply, \u201cScrew you!\u00a0 Three years on either side of the 80\u2019s is CLOSE ENOUGH to the 80\u2019s to be CONSIDERED the 80\u2019s!!\u00a0 Therefore I continue to RULE\u00a0in the \u201880\u2019s song for every moment in life\u2019 game we have going.\u201d<\/p>\n

At which point we’d\u00a0devolve into name calling and hair pulling and would miss the entire point of the blog, which is: I\u2019m incredibly witty \u2013 even when it comes to aspen trees.<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s carry on, shall we?<\/p>\n

Several years ago, when I first moved here,\u00a0I created the following poem to capture the majesty of Fall in Colorado.\u00a0 It goes like this:<\/p>\n

Fall comes to the Mountain Peaks<\/strong>
\nAnd we wait and wait for just the right week<\/strong>
\nTo answer for ourselves the eternal question<\/strong>
\nWhen, where, why and HOW\u2019S YOUR ASPEN?!?<\/strong><\/p>\n
