Actually?\u00a0\u00a0There wasn’t\u00a0any sex.\u00a0\u00a0But ha ha ha…made ya look!\u00a0\u00a0Made ya look!\u00a0\u00a0Stole your mother’s pocketbook.\u00a0 A<\/span><\/span><\/span>lso?\u00a0 You should be ashamed of yourself, you dirty bird,\u00a0lookin’ for some sex.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But what we really did have was the city.\u00a0 New York City.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>Which is where I went this week-end for a reunion with 20 other sorority sisters from college.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

And we spent the whole time talking.\u00a0\u00a0Well…and drinking; But just a\u00a0teeeensy bit of that.\u00a0\u00a0Because, really, we only drank occasionally and\u00a0in moderate amounts in college, so why start gettin’ jiggy with it now?!\u00a0\u00a0(If you have something negative to say about any recent lying trends you may have noticed, you can just ZIP IT! \u00a0Because 1. whatever happens in NYC stays in NYC and 2. my parents are reading this blog.)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There was some sightseeing too.\u00a0\u00a0Ok, a bit of shopping as well.\u00a0\u00a0Also a nice group dinner.\u00a0\u00a0And dancing on the rooftop at 1 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0 But there was no sitting.\u00a0\u00a0Because as we learned, if you don’t buy bottle service, you don’t get to sit on any\u00a0of\u00a0the comfy couches scattered throughout\u00a0the entire City of New York.\u00a0\u00a0And since\u00a0I\u00a0wore strappy heels in red patent leather,\u00a0my feet were KILLING me by the time the whole thing was over.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But catching up on the last two decades\u00a0is hard work.\u00a0\u00a0And someone had to do it.\u00a0\u00a0If feet were sacrificed in the process, then so be it.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So what did I discover about this\u00a0group of reunion-ees?\u00a0 I learned that…We’re all good sisters\u2026 Each one the other’s friend.. And we’ll be good sisters ’til all the world shall end\u2026 And while we’re together, we’ll give a rousing CHEER\u2026\u00a0Al-pha Xi Del-ta!\u00a0 Good sisters are so dear!\u00a0 CHUG!!!<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

(But just a little chugging.\u00a0 We didn’t do that much chugging in college, so why start now?!)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Oh.\u00a0 You mean what else did I learn in ADDITION\u00a0to that\u00a0Good Sisters bit?\u00a0 Well…some of us are married, some\u00a0single.\u00a0 Some of us took\u00a0the Career Chick path.\u00a0 Some went the Stay at Home Mom route.\u00a0 Some do the Working Mother thang.\u00a0 Some have no kids, one kid, two kid, red kid, blue kid.\u00a0\u00a0SIX kids is\u00a0cray-cray\u00a0but there\u2019s always\u00a0one who goes THERE with THAT.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We traveled from states mostly located around New York,\u00a0but also\u00a0from Colorado,\u00a0California and\u00a0Florida.\u00a0 We even had an international business woman jet-set in from\u00a0COSTA RICA!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There has\u00a0been cancer,\u00a0divorce, sadness and\u00a0sorrow.\u00a0 But so far, we’re all alive and kickin’.\u00a0 None of this\u00a0group has joined Chapter Eternal.\u00a0 So that’s something to be grateful for.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yet despite our divergent paths in life, we’re\u00a0still as young and fun\u00a0as we always were.\u00a0\u00a0I don’t know why any of us were worried we wouldn’t recognize the others.\u00a0 We all still look EXACTLY the same!\u00a0\u00a0 NOTHING\u00a0has changed.\u00a0 In fact, w<\/span><\/span><\/span>e ALL\u00a0agreed this was the case.\u00a0\u00a0It’s all still the “Same as it ever was…Same as it ever was…time isn’t holding us, time isn’t after us, time isn’t holding us, time doesn’t hold you back, time isn’t holding us…<\/em>“*<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Can I get an ‘Amen!’ to THAT, Sister?!?<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

*For those who have just joined us, I play this fun game wherein an 80’s song will pop into my head, and I’ll mention it – along with\u00a0the lyrics and the name of the artist and song.\u00a0\u00a080’s songs pop into my head so frequently, for any and every reason, that scientists have even developed a theory about it.\u00a0 It’s called the “80’s song for every moment in life” theory.\u00a0 And guess what?\u00a0 It turns out that there’s even an 80’s song for sorority reunions!\u00a0 Who knew?!\u00a0\u00a0In this case it’s\u00a0“Once in a Lifetime” released in 1980 by\u00a0the Talking Heads on their\u00a0Remain in the Light album.\u00a0 See?\u00a0\u00a0It’s fun, right?\u00a0 Remember how I said it was fun,\u00a0’cause it’s fun.\u00a0 And I’M fun.\u00a0 AND young.\u00a0 Well…at least I LOOK\u00a0young; I have 20 witnesses who say the same.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
