Ok…there is something SERIOUSLY wrong at Costco.\u00a0 How does THIS (see picture on LEFT of\u00a0teeeeeny tiny list) become THIS (see picture on RIGHT of\u00a0HUGE $75 receipt)??!<\/p>\n

See??\u00a0 Something is seriously\u00a0wrong….right??!<\/p>\n

In all fairness, perhaps it’s not so much COSTCO as me\u00a0AT COSTCO<\/em>.\u00a0\u00a0I’ll tell you how it happens.\u00a0 Trust me,\u00a0I’ve thoroughly analyzed this phenomenon and have come up with the following grid to help you understand how it all goes down.\u00a0 Each and every time.\u00a0 Down.\u00a0\u00a0Every.\u00a0 Time.<\/p>\n

I call it the Fantasy vs. Reality Phenomenon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
What I purchased<\/span><\/strong><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nWhat I was thinking <\/span><\/strong><\/span>(aka \u201cThe FANTASY\u201d)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nWhat happened\/will happen <\/span><\/strong><\/span>(aka \u201cREALITY\u2019)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Deep dish meat lovers pizza<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nHmmm\u2026I don\u2019t have anything planned for dinner.\u00a0 Pizza would be perfect and I have salad fixin\u2019s in the fridge.\u00a0 Alles klar, Herr Kommissar??<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nI paid $10 for the privilege of finding out that NO ONE in the whole frickin\u2019 family even LIKES deep dish pizza.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bagels<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nOooh \u2013 this is a good breakfast idea now that school is almost back in session.\u00a0 I will slice them and freeze them and then the kids can pull one out for breakfast or a snack.\u00a0 Great idea!\u00a0 And she shoots\u2026she SCORES!<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nI sliced the dozen faux Einstein bagels (I say faux because they aren\u2019t REALLY Einstein bagels otherwise there\u2019d be salt on the \u2018everything\u2019 ones – trust the Jersey Girl on this) and as I put them in the freezer, I realized this was SUCH\u00a0a good idea, that I HAD ALREADY THOUGHT OF IT\u2026as evidenced by the\u00a0DOZEN SLICED BAGELS ALREADY IN THE FREEZER!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Coffee<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nIt\u2019s on the list.\u00a0 This is a total no-brainer.<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nI must drink a lot of coffee if I need to buy it in bulk from Costco.\u00a0 But at least I\u2019m saving money by doing so.\u00a0 Right?\u00a0 RIGHT??<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bananas<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nSee above.<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nTurns out the crazy monkeys at my son\u2019s sleepover-in-the-tent-in-the-backyard don\u2019t WANT a dozen green bananas for breakfast and in fact can\u2019t EVEN OPEN THEM despite their opposable thumbs.\u00a0 Well, at least I only spent $1.39 on that clusterbomb.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Kale Salad<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nThe sample was FANTASTIC!\u00a0 The family is gonna LOVE this salad.<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nWho?\u00a0 In the\u00a0HELL is gonna eat a pound of kale salad??\u00a0 Especially since it also contains shaved Brussel sprouts and broccoli??!\u00a0 Speaking of farts\u2026that was a total brain fart.\u00a0 But perhaps I can pawn it off on my lunch club which meets at my house this\u00a0week?\u00a0 Please??\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Strawberries<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nWow!\u00a0 $2.99 for a pound of strawberries?\u00a0 I\u2019m in!<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nWe will never eat these strawberries before they go bad.\u00a0 I wonder what sort of meal I can make for my lunch club out of kale salad and slightly old strawberries.<\/span> <\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Boneless ribs<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nLess than $10 for Tony Roma\u2019s boneless ribs?\u00a0 I can make a quick meal out of this one night next week.<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nTBD, but this has all the signs of turning out the way the\u00a0deep dish pizza turned out.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Chicago Mix<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nThis is a delicious mixture of yellow cheese and caramel popcorn all mixed into a jumbled mixture of sweet and salty goodness!\u00a0 Perfect to have on hand for a summer snack to feed to the neighborhood kids.<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nI will eat the ENTIRE TWO-POUND BAG by myself and wonder why I can\u2019t lose weight (and also wonder why my fingertips have a weird yellowish tinge to them).<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Dixie plates<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nList, stupid!\u00a0 In fact, I actually think I\u2019m saving money and time by using paper plates.\u00a0 There are a LOT of hidden costs that go into washing and maintaining dishes.\u00a0 With that in mind\u2026yep.\u00a0 I\u2019m definitely saving money.\u00a0 At Costco.\u00a0 With paper plates.\u00a0 Yep.\u00a0 Yep.<\/span><\/td>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nNoooooo.\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 Nopenopenope.\u00a0\u00a0Not saving a dime.\u00a0\u00a0But thank you for playing.\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
