Have you heard this new song by Daft Punk called “Get Lucky”?\u00a0\u00a0 Most of the lyrics go like this:<\/p>\n

We’re up all night to get lucky

\nWe’re up all night to get lucky
\nWe’re up all night to get lucky<\/p>\n

Then there are some lyrics that go like this:<\/p>\n

We’re up all night ’til the sun
\nWe’re up all night to get SARS\u00a0(Yes,\u00a0you will\u00a0get SARS – but more likely mono –\u00a0if you\u00a0stay\u00a0up night after night to get lucky.)
\nWe’re up all night for good fun
\nWe’re up all night to get lucky<\/p>\n

And then we’re right back to being up all night to get lucky.\u00a0 Endlessly up all night.\u00a0 Endlessly trying to get\u00a0lucky.\u00a0 Nope.\u00a0 Still up.\u00a0 Still not lucky.\u00a0\u00a0 And still up……….<\/p>\n

In essence, the song is repetitive and\u00a0mind-numbing.<\/p>\n

And this\u00a0brings me to my point: Back in the ’80’s – we had WAY better songs!\u00a0\u00a0Lyrics really MEANT something.\u00a0 Serious life and death issues (not just SAR’s) were covered by many famous artists.\u00a0 “Girls just wanna have fun?”\u00a0 Why, yes!\u00a0 Yes we\u00a0do!\u00a0 And how ’bout, “We got the beat!”\u00a0 Why, yes.\u00a0 Yes we do!<\/p>\n

See?\u00a0 Super serious stuff.<\/p>\n

And what about the artist names?\u00a0\u00a0Madonna,\u00a0The Bangles, U2, Prince, The Police, THE GO-GO’S?\u00a0\u00a0Need I go on?!?\u00a0\u00a0If you got the beat, then you\u00a0get the point.\u00a0\u00a0Those were some\u00a0quality\u00a0rock group names.<\/p>\n

Daft Punk??\u00a0 It sounds like some thug from a Warner Brothers cartoon.<\/p>\n

Pssst!\u00a0 Daft Punk, here’s a message for you…go to bed already.\u00a0 You’re not gonna get lucky with this 80’s girl.\u00a0 She has her standards.\u00a0\u00a0Better yet, I\u2019LL go to bed already.\u00a0 Even though I\u00a0like to have fun, I\u00a0really need my\u00a0beauty sleep.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
