Remember that blog where I bought the\u00a0Wahl Deluxe<\/em> Complete Haircutting Kit<\/a>\u00a0at Costco so as to save money\u00a0by cutting my son’s, husband’s and dog’s hair?<\/p>\n

Well, that plan has been\u00a0a resounding success!<\/p>\n

Sort of.<\/p>\n

Ok.\u00a0 Not at all.<\/p>\n

The Boy:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong> My son’s hair looked like (in his own words) a “muffin top” after I got done with him.\u00a0\u00a0I explained\u00a0to him what a muffin top actually means to the majority of the world, but I did have to\u00a0agree that his hair\u00a0was oddly poofy on top and in the bang\u00a0area.\u00a0 This had the unfortunate side-effect of making him\u00a0look kinda muffin-y up there.\u00a0 Which necessitated two more trims after the first one.\u00a0 And I’m not even gonna mention anything about\u00a0the human hair that was spread all over the backyard afterwards\u00a0(that’s where I cut Sonny’s hair.\u00a0 On a stool.\u00a0 In the back yard.\u00a0 On a drop cloth.\u00a0 Where else was I supposed to do it?\u00a0 The kid has a LOT of hair and I didn’t want it in my HOUSE!).\u00a0 Not\u00a0only did the human hair accidentally-scattered-by-the-wind-into-all-of the-trees-and-bushes NOT\u00a0keep the rabbits, prairie dogs and voles away as we had hoped – but it is now hopelessly embedded\u00a0in the clothing we wore that day, never to come out.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The Husband:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Cutting my husband’s hair was a breeze compared to the above.\u00a0 I took the clippers all the way down to “0” (meaning no attachments, just sharp, angry steel between me and his head).\u00a0\u00a0And afterwards it looked like he had gone to the barber for a $15 head shave!\u00a0 Admittedly,\u00a0weird crouching in the shower stall on both our parts was needed to accomplish that look.\u00a0\u00a0I’m pretty sure the barber wouldn’t have done it that way.\u00a0 Despite the positive results, the\u00a0negative side effect\u00a0of that experience was\u00a0what I’m calling a “hair splinter” that I got in my nose.\u00a0\u00a0Well…actually…not IN my nose.\u00a0 But ON it.\u00a0 I took a picture of it because it’s\u00a0too crazy to be believed.\u00a0 A tiny piece of hair the size of splinter was actually embedded IN\u00a0the skin ON\u00a0my nose.\u00a0 I had to use squeezing\/pinching maneuvers and tweezers to remove it.\u00a0 No.\u00a0 I’m totally not kidding.\u00a0 Who even knew this was possible??<\/p>\n

The Dog:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Here are\u00a0the before and after pictures of the dog’s haircut.\u00a0 The pics\u00a0look pretty much the same, don’t they?\u00a0 Well, except for those few tufts of hair on the grass in the second shot.\u00a0\u00a0That’s about all I was able to get off of him before I gave up.\u00a0 The instruction booklet never said that sweet, Wheaten\u00a0Terriers turn into Tasmanian Devils when confronted with clippers.\u00a0 That sort of stuff should REALLY have been mentioned.\u00a0\u00a0‘Cause they do.\u00a0 And he did.\u00a0 So I gave up\u00a0in abject terror after he took me AND Sissy down with his\u00a0fourth double barrel roll.\u00a0 You know the kind.\u00a0 They’re the ones\u00a0alligators use to break their victims’ necks as they are\u00a0bringing them\u00a0to the bottom of the pond to die of\u00a0a\u00a0broken neck AND drowning before they eat them.\u00a0 With their sharp, sharp teeth.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

So…where does all of this\u00a0leave me?\u00a0 I’m out 40 bucks for the haircutting kit.\u00a0 Sonny looks like\u00a0Edward Scissorhands got drunk and went medieval on his\u00a0a$$.\u00a0 Hubby is more bald than when we started.\u00a0 And\u00a0the dog\u00a0looks like he has a case of mange.\u00a0 And NOW?\u00a0 Now I need to shell out another 50 bucks to repair the damage.<\/p>\n
