And now a brief word on Father’s Day cards….<\/p>\n

Why are they ALL so sappy?\u00a0\u00a0With terrible graphics??\u00a0 And all in…BROWN<\/em>???<\/p>\n

How ’bout that card with the close-up of the lawnmower on the front?\u00a0 Or the artistic shot through the rope mesh\u00a0of a hammock??\u00a0\u00a0A\u00a0HAMMOCK?!?\u00a0 Is this the sum total of what we think of our\u00a0fathers??<\/p>\n

The worst part is that,\u00a0with the gold\u00a0cord-and-tassle detailing,\u00a0plastic\u00a0overlayer\u00a0(are there going to be a lot of spills\u00a0so we need a protectant of some sort??!), and three pages of text proclaiming your love FOR\u00a0them and detailing WHY\u00a0you love them (why you loved them as an innocent child\/as a selfish teenager\/as an adult grownup-to-grownup, they fix things around the house, taught you how to throw a baseball blah, blah, blah)…..you’re payin’\u00a0$5.99 for the privilege!\u00a0 BARF!!\u00a0 <\/em>[the reason for the\u00a0plastic overlayer now becomes clear]<\/p>\n

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure MY\u00a0dad does\u00a0NOT appreciate this drivel.\u00a0 Heck – I <\/em><\/strong><\/span>don’t appreciate this drivel.<\/p>\n

And the cards you can get for your HUSBAND\u00a0for Father’s Day?\u00a0 The ones in the section entitled “To the Man I Love\u00a0on Father’s Day”??\u00a0 \u00a0 These are quite possibly WORSE\u00a0than the ones you can get for your father.\u00a0 Same horrible colors and embellishments, but these have cartoon-y pictures of mice-in-love\u00a0on the front.\u00a0 Or sometimes even rabbits?\u00a0 RABBITS?!??\u00a0 Ugh.\u00a0\u00a0AND\u00a0barfity, barf,\u00a0BARF!!\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Me?\u00a0 I go for the\u00a0“Special 99-Cents Section”\u00a0cards that have varying-sized stars on the front in a few bright-yet-masculine colors, and just state outright – Happy Father’s Day!\u00a0 You’re the best.<\/em>\u00a0 I add a little “I love you” and\u00a0‘nuf said.<\/p>\n

Happy Father’s Day to all, and to all a good night!<\/strong><\/p>\n

P.S.\u00a0 Hubby – even though you’re not my dad, I’m still wishing\u00a0you a Happy Father’s Day because I MADE you a dad.\u00a0 Now,\u00a0I’ve made you do MANY\u00a0things over the years….but I’ve always been proud that I made you a dad.\u00a0\u00a0I love you!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
