{"id":108,"date":"2012-09-17T14:15:53","date_gmt":"2012-09-17T20:15:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=108"},"modified":"2013-02-06T12:19:19","modified_gmt":"2013-02-06T19:19:19","slug":"monday-week-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newstayathomemom.com\/?p=108","title":{"rendered":"My Husband&#8217;s Laundry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>***SPOILER ALERT***<\/p>\n<p><em>If you&#8217;re married to me (and you know who you are), do NOT read this blog post&#8230;well, at least until you get home that is.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I think I just went down a really slippery slope today.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>I just did my\u00a0husband&#8217;s laundry.\u00a0 For the first time ever.<\/p>\n<p>OK &#8211; &#8216;ever&#8217; is a slight exaggeration, since I&#8217;ve probably done it twice before (once during each of my two maternity leaves) in the last 20 years of marriage.<\/p>\n<p>Early on, when we were newlyweds and were both working full-time jobs that carried the same\u00a0weight in terms of the income we brought into the house, we decided that I would do my laundry and he would do his.\u00a0 And not to be outdone in the equality of how we divvied up the chores, he would do the towels and I would do the sheets.\u00a0 Yes, I&#8217;m totally serious.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 How did you divvy up the chores when you were a newlywed?!?<\/p>\n<p>Well &#8211; years passed and the sheets\/towels line got blurred and I found myself washing items in both categories.\u00a0 And then more years passed and\u00a0Baby 1 came along and doubled the laundry load (pun intended).\u00a0 Then Baby 2 came along and\u00a0suddenly there were\u00a0exponential amounts of laundry &#8211; poopy onesies, dirty bibs, pee-ish crib sheets, my clothes, an entire family&#8217;s worth of towels and linens.\u00a0 The\u00a0mountain of dirty stuff-needing-washing\u00a0became my domain.<\/p>\n<p>The one last laundry bastion left in the house was\u00a0my\u00a0husband&#8217;s\u00a0clothes.\u00a0\u00a0Well&#8230;not today.\u00a0 Today I just did a load of his dirty unmentionables.\u00a0\u00a0There was some serious hinting going on yesterday as I was doing everyone else&#8217;s laundry (hey &#8211; ya get into a routine and it&#8217;s hard to break out so sue me!).\u00a0 So\u00a0I\u00a0bit the bullet\u00a0and did his laundry as well.\u00a0 We&#8217;ll see where this leads.\u00a0 It may just be\u00a0one more thing I take on because I have the TIME to do it.\u00a0 Or it may be one of those things where I &#8216;accidentally&#8217; irreparably damage a clothing item he loves (remember like your mother did back when you were in 5th grade and your favorite sweater came out of the dryer tiny enough to fit\u00a0a baby-doll?!\u00a0 And you&#8217;ve been doing your own laundry ever since??\u00a0 Maybe that was just me&#8230;) and he goes back to doing his own laundry ad infinitum.\u00a0 TBD on this whole thing.\u00a0 The slope might not be as slippery as I think.\u00a0 And I&#8217;m not folding anything.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of folding,\u00a0my husband never does.\u00a0 And when I\u00a0was upstairs just now putting stuff away in our closet, it occurred to me that his clean clothes look suspiciously like his dirty clothes.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t tell them apart.\u00a0 [and I&#8217;m NOT smelling <em>anything<\/em>!\u00a0 I\u00a0have my standards, slippery slope or not!!]\u00a0\u00a0In fact, I may have just washed a whole load of clean clothes!\u00a0\u00a0And the dirty ones are still&#8230;uh&#8230;dirty.\u00a0 We won&#8217;t know until he comes home.\u00a0 Apparently the Spoiler Alert applies to me as well.\u00a0 Like I said, TBD on this whole thing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>***SPOILER ALERT*** If you&#8217;re married to me (and you know who you are), do NOT read this blog post&#8230;well, at least until you get home that is.
